Police in Prince George’s County, Maryland released a photo of the suspect who stabbed a 28-year-old man during an argument outside a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant in the 6200 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, MD on Monday.

Prince George’s County police released a photo of the suspect: a Black male wearing a yellow t-shirt, black jacket and black ball cap turned backwards. Also seen in the photo is a Black woman who police hope to identify in connection with the incident, according to Fox 13 News.

“We are looking for a male, and that male knows who he is,” Prince George’s County Police spokeswoman Jennifer Donelan said at a news conference Monday. “He knows what he did here tonight, and he needs to do the right thing and he needs to step up and turn himself in.”

Kevin Tyrell Davis, 28, of Oxon Hill, MD, was identified as the victim. He was stabbed after arguing with the suspect over cutting the long line. The suspect followed Davis to the front door and stabbed him in the parking lot.

The fatal incident occurred after Popeyes announced the return of the popular sandwiches on Sunday, Nov. 3. The chicken sandwiches were pulled earlier this year after a series of violent assaults inside Popeyes fast food restaurants.

Popeyes was heavily criticized for targeting a low-income demographic with high calorie, high fat, high sodium chicken products.

On Tuesday a Popeyes spokesperson released a statement to Fox News:

“We do not yet know whether this was the result of a dispute over one of our products or something unrelated, but there is no reason for someone to lose their life on a Monday night in a parking lot. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends and we are fully cooperating with local authorities.”

The spicy chicken craze started out as a friendly meme war between Popeyes and its rival Chick-fil-A. But the high demand for the chicken sandwiches have resulting in bad PR for the company.

According to customers around the country, the spicy chicken sandwiches are already sold out.
