Drake, who popularized hip-hop’s Emo rapper subgenre, dropped his new single “War” on Christmas Eve.

On the track, Drake, right, addresses his rumored feud with Canadian R&B singer the Weeknd, saying “We just had to fix things.”

Drake, who many say launched the Weeknd’s career, reportedly fell out with the singer after he dropped his single “Lost in the Fire” that seemed to referenced Drake’s son, Adonis, whom Drake denied for months.

Drake eventually claimed the 14-month-old boy in a song off his Scorpion album, which was released in June 2019.

In his song “War,” Drake mentions all the people he wants to “fix things” with, including “the boy that sound like he sang on Thriller/You know that’s been my n____, yeah/We just had to fix things, family, 6 tings/ We can’t split up.”

Drake continues:

“Anyone I’m beefin’ with is a no name/N____ can’t even win home games/They just gotta fall in line like Soul Train.”

Drake’s fans criticized the rapper for switching his familiar sing-song rhyme style to a staccato rap flow. One YouTube user wrote: “Damn Drake’s a UK Drill rapper now?”

2019 has not been a good year for Drake. As a result, the Toronto native has landed on a few “Rappers who fell off in 2019” lists.
