2 Los Angeles Lakers stars tested positive for the new Coronavirus, the team announced Friday. The team last played the Brooklyn Nets before the season was abruptly cancelled.

“Following four Brooklyn Nets players testing positive for COVID-19, because Los Angeles Lakers’ players were exposed to them during our game against the Nets on March 10, our team physicians and public health officials recommended coronavirus testing for the players.”

“We learned today that two Lakers players have tested positive. Both players are currently asymptomatic, in quarantine and under the care of the team’s physician.”

The 2 Lakers players were not identified. Two members of the Utah Jazz and Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics also tested positive, along with Christian Wood of the Pistons.

The Coronavirus causes no symptoms or mild symptoms in most healthy adults. The virus causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and potentially fatal pneumonia among the elderly population, particularly those with chronic illnesses such as respiratory and heart problems.

Also at risk are smokers (cigarettes, weed) and young people who vape.
