Idris Elba is the latest celebrity to test positive for the coronavirus. The hunky actor, real name Idrissa Akuna Elba, confirmed his diagnosis in a video tweet on Monday.

“This morning I tested positive for Covid 19,” he said. “I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”

He said he got tested because he was in contact with someone who tested positive for the virus. In 2016, Elba married actress Sabrina Dhowre. He has 2 children from previous relationships.

Elba 47, was born in Hackney, London, England. He is best known for portraying Baltimore drug lord Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire.

He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award, winning one, and was nominated 5 times for a Primetime Emmy Award.

The virus causes mild flu-like symptoms in healthy people under age 50. It causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and potentially fatal pneumonia among the elderly, particularly those with chronic illnesses such as respiratory and heart problems.

Also at risk are smokers, people who have chronic illnesses and weak immune systems.
