The BET Hip Hop Awards weekend kicked off last night with ASCAP's Legends Ball held at the W Hotel in Atlanta, honoring the music legends who have given back to the Atlanta community. ASCAP Rhythm & Soul and Ford & Lincoln Motor company brought together the brightest minds in music and charity for a night of conversation and music at the wonderful W Hotel in Atlanta.
First lady Michelle Obama was featured prominently in ABC network's promotional Tv ads for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" season premiere which aired last night.
Most viewers who watched the TV commercials had no idea that Rihanna would be on the show because she was left out of the TV ads. In fact, the network did promote Rihanna's appearance as a "surprise guest" on blogs and in print media, but not in commercial spots that featured the first lady Michelle Obama. Mrs. Obama simply wasn't interested in sharing screen time with a public drunken mess like Rihanna.
The Bajan singer, who once famously said, "I'm a rock star, not a role model!," wasn't actually on hand to help build a new house for needy families. Instead, she held a meet and greet with the families and a woman's veteran's group backstage at one of her concert stops (see video).
There's no doubt that Rihanna's public drunkenness has become a major cause for concern. Yesterday on Twitter.com, Rihanna lashed out at others who accused her of being a drug addict. But it appears that she Rihanna was worrying about the wrong thing. She failed to address her alcoholism which has become the talk of industry.
Yesterday, Nike announced the release of 1,500 limited edition pairs of Nike MAGS, the futuristic trainers that Marty McFly wore in the hit 1989 film 'Back to the Future'.
According to Nicekicks.com owner Matt Halfhill, who was flown out to LA for the shoe unveiling Thursday, the cartoonish trainers comes with a battery pack and the Nike logo lights up like the ones in the movie. But unlike the movie version, the shoes are not self lacing.

Ludacris and his fiancee Fab partied at Mansion Elan in Atlanta on Friday night. The party was packed to capacity and it was one of the many events featured as part of his LudaDay Weekend festivities.
Ludacris stopped by the 11Alive studio to fill 11Alive viewers in on this year's LudaDay Weekend from Sept. 1-5th. Ludacris says this LudaDay weekend will be the biggest of the past 10 years.
The most anticipated event is probably the celebrity basketball game featuring NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, in addition to other local celebs. Luda's team will take on Justin Beiber and his crew. Luda jokingly calls Bieber his "mentor" who he goes to for advice on women. Even so, Luda says he's definitely not going to let Bieber win the game.
Tickets are $10 and the proceeds will benefit the Ludacris Foundation. Visit DTPrecords.com for a full schedule of this weekend's events.
If you're planning on attending the LudaDay weekend events, you will have to contend with near gridlock traffic in downtown Atlanta. Not only is this Gay Pride weekend, but there will be other conventions and professional sporting events competing for spectators this weekend as well.

One of Keyshia's followers @B_quiet84 tweeted these pics from the event today. Keyshia and Booby are currently shooting their new reality Tv series with her mom Frankie Lons. The show will include scenes from their upcoming vows renewal ceremony.
The couple were married earlier this year in Las Vegas. Kudos to them!
Michael Jackson is rolling over in his grave. His 3 children who all led sheltered lives until his untimely death in 2009 are walking red carpets and being exploited all in the name of charity. Michael's mother, Katherine, his sister, La Toya Jackson, and his children, Paris Jackson, Prince Jackson and Blanket Jackson, attended the Jackson Family Art Donation Event at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles yesterday (August 8, 2011).
Paris Jackson, 13, has the most gorgeous blue eyes. I see modeling in her future. By the way, her Twitter page is @pariisjaxn, and she is a trip.

Beyoncé Knowles dropped her version of "God Bless The USA" last night on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" -- just days after close family friend, U.S. President Barack Obama, killed the world's #1 terrorist.
The single is now available on iTunes.
Proceeds from the sales of the song will benefit the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund. Good for Beyonce for showing her benevolent side. She really needs the shine, especially now that the entire industry is whispering about how Kelly Rowland's single, "Motivation", leaped past Bey's "Run The World Girls" on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
You really have to be a hard core Beyoncé Stan not to see that Beyoncé's reign is finally over.
All those stories you heard about R&B singer divorcing her hubby Kendu Isaacs were just that -- stories. Don't believe everything you read on the blogs. The happy couple attended a special concert honoring Mary J Blige and the FFAWN (Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now) scholarship fund at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC last night.
Media personality Lala Vazquez-Anthony attended the Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now ("FFAWN") and Elle Magazine 2nd Annual Mary J. Blige Honors Concert to benefit FFAWN's Scholarship Fund, held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC last night.
Also attending the special event were singers Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Corrine BaileyRae, Jill Scott, actresses Kerry Washington, Ellen Pomeo, and her husband Chris Ivey; actress Evan Rachel Wood (not pictured) and more.
Love comes in all shapes and sizes: Lesbian actress Michelle Rodriguez flagged a cab with her unidentified lover in downtown NYC today. Her girlfriend has never been fat, but she's looking extra crackish in these pictures. I guess the toothpick look is in these days. Lindsay Lohan's ex, Samantha Ronson, isn't much bigger than this chick.
