Nelson Mandela

South Africa's first black president Nelson Mandela passed away at his home today. He was 95. Tributes and condolences flooded social networking websites as world leaders, former presidents, celebrities and citizens of the world remembered the anti-apartheid civil rights leader.

President Obama spoke on Mandela's passing from the White House about 45 minutes after the announcement that Mandela had died.

"He no longer belongs to us. He belongs to the ages," said Obama, borrowing the words of Edwin M. Stanton, who, as Abraham Lincoln lay on his deathbed, said "He now belongs to the ages.”

Paul Walker

The production team behind the Fast & Furious movie franchise released a moving tribute to actor Paul Walker, 40, who was incinerated along with a friend in a single car accident in California last weekend.

Predictably, the coroner's report listed the cause of Walker's death as "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries" from the high speed impact and the fire that engulfed the $450,000 Porsche Carrera GT that Walker was riding in.

According to the coroner's report, Walker initially survived the violent impact, but he died "within seconds" after the crash.

Michelle Rowling and Montrell Cooper

An East St. Louis woman warned her Facebook friends that she might be killed just days before she was found stabbed to death in her apartment on Saturday night.

"If anything happens to me tonight just let my kids know I loved them dearly and tell my momma I love her," Michelle Rowling posted on her Facebook page on November 25th.

On Saturday night, police were called to investigate a disturbance at Rowling's apartment complex. Police found the 25-year-old bleeding out on the floor of her apartment.

Police arrested her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Montrell Cooper, according to St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly.

Adrian Briskey A woman shot and killed a fellow college football fan because she and others weren't upset over the Alabama Crimson Tide's loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl football game last weekend.

Adrian Briskey, 28, was arrested on Monday and charged in the shooting death of 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd on Saturday, Nov. 30.

#1 ranked Alabama was handed their first loss of the season when Auburn ran back a missed Crimson Tide field goal for a touchdown to win the game 34-28 with no time left on the clock.

The stunning loss dropped Alabama to #4 in the polls and lifted Auburn to #3.

Paul Walker and Roger Rodas

The entertainment world was shaken to its core by the news of the tragic death of 'Fast & Furious' franchise star Paul Walker over the weekend.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says excessive speed was a factor in the death of Walker, 40, and his financial adviser, Roger Rodas, 38.

Rodas was at the wheel of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when it hit a light pole and wrapped itself around a tree near the site of a fundraiser that Walker attended on Saturday in Valencia, CA.

Emergency responders found the mens' bodies nearly incinerated inside the mangled wreckage of the half million dollar sports car.

Walker's death was a freakish footnote to the underground racing movie franchise that made him a household name.

Adele Bing

A Florida woman was arrested and charged with killing her daughter after mistaking the 25-year-old woman for her boyfriend.

Adele Bing, 52, was charged with second degree murder in the death of Ruby Bing, who was shot at her mother's front door, WFTV.com reports.

Adele Bing was also charged with child endangerment. Ruby Bing was holding her 4-month-old baby when she was shot after she knocked on her mother's door. The baby was not injured.

The Internet is buzzing about an interview given by Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's disgraced ex-personal physician.

The 60-year-old heart surgeon was released from a California prison 3 weeks ago. He immediately began giving interviews -- in exchange for substantial sums of cash because he's broke.

In an interview with The Daily Mail, Murray described a very simple procedure performed by doctors and nurses in hospitals and clinics every day.

Terrence Mitchell

A Connecticut high school football captain is behind bars, charged with stabbing his male lover to death.

Bloomfield High School student Tarence Mitchell, 18, stabbed his boyfriend Ronald Taylor Jr., 27, five times with a steak knife after Mitchell decided to break off their relationship.

Fox News reports Taylor arrived at Mitchell's residence and struck him in the face before the stabbing commenced. But Mitchell initially lied to police and said they were attacked by two men wearing hoodies -- a deliberate attempt to portray the domestic violence incident as a hate crime.

V'ondra Olivaria

Two teenagers have been arrested in the death of V’ondra Olivaria who was shot Saturday night in her Clayton County home, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Olivaria's mother told the AJC a teenage boy politely shook her hand when he and a friend came to her house to visit her daughters Saturday night.

Within minutes, she said, that same teenager shot and killed her 16-year-old daughter.

“My baby was in her room thinking she was safe from the harmful stuff outside,” Yolanda Rincon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. “But the devil let loose in this house.”

Renisha McBride funeral

A Michigan man has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Renisha McBride.

Theodore Paul Wafer, 54, also known as Ted, was taken into custody today, The Detroit News reports.

Wafer claims he shot McBride in the face in "self defense" when she knocked on his door seeking help after a car crash on Nov. 2. McBride's family was notified of her death on Nov. 4. Police initially said her body was "dumped" in the Detroit suburb.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the arrest today during a press conference in Detroit.

"We obviously do not feel that the evidence in this case reveals that the defendant acted in lawful self defense," Worthy said.
