As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?
Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N------s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B----hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!
At least 17,500+ VH1 viewers are sick and tired of VH1's scripted violence against black women. The show, Basketball Wives, which pretends to follow the troubles and tribulations of a group of "friends," is actually a scripted TV series with non-actor cast members who are encouraged to stage fake fights to boost TV ratings.
One woman, Alexis M., is tired of the ongoing violence, and the show's perception that black women are crazy and angry.
Alexis created an online petition to get Evelyn and Chad's spin-off show canceled before it has even aired.
Not satisfied with just presenting signatures to VH1 (who is probably enjoying the free pub), Alexis M. is going after the show's advertisers, too. Alexis said one of the show's sponsors, Burger King, didn't even know what "Basketball Wives" was.
R&B singer Brian McKnight caused quite a stir earlier this week when he released a sexually graphic track called "(Let Me Show You How Your) Pu$$y Works". McKnight later admitted the song was a "joke" that he'd written because he was bored while laid up at home with a bum ankle.
R&B crooner Tank was not amused at McKnight's attention-seeking antics. Just because a man makes you wet and buckles your knees with his high notes, that doesn't make him a gentleman.
Tank, on the other hand, is always a gentleman who would never stoop to such tactics to get attention.
"That's not how you talk you to a woman!" said Tank while promoting his upcoming album on the WGCI Morning show on Wednesday. "First of all he's 57 years old with a mohawk... It was the old dude at the club trying to holla at the 21 year olds."
Emo rapper Nas dropped a sentimental track titled "Daughters" off his upcoming album, Life Is Good.
On the track, Nas wonders aloud if his promiscuous 17-year-old daughter Destiny would have turned out better if he wasn't such a whoremonger himself. Didn't he teach his daughter to respect herself even as he rapped about disrespecting other men's daughters? Nas waxes poetic about lavishing cash and jewels on his kid instead of giving of his time (which is free).
“They say the coolest playas are foulest heart breakers in the world
God gets us back, he makes us have precious little girls”
And now he laments the fact that his grown daughter is posting pics of condoms on Twitter and pretty much advertising her goodies. Nas sounds like a man who's worried about having to support a daughter and a future grandkid. She's a chip off the old block, as old folks would say. "Daughters" was produced by No ID.
Destiny's mother, Carmen Bryant, was outraged that Nas (who is known to be an attention whore) basically called their teenager a slut on a record. She came out swinging on Twitter.com Wednesday, saying Nas should have allowed his daughter to hear the song first.
"I think he really didn't realize how the song would affect Destiny. He should have allowed her to hear if first," she tweeted in one message.
Read what Carmen had to say, and listen to the track, after the break.
First the Secret Service brings prostitutes back to their hotel in Colombia, and now Fox News has invited Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan to the White House Correspondents dinner. This may be President Obama's correspondence dinner if he loses the election to Mitt Romney. What a way for him to leave office. The correspondence dinner is traditionally attended by journalists and their invitees -- usually media big wigs and their families.
Pilar Sanders' mugshot has hit the internets. In the mugshot taken at a Dallas jail last night following her arrest on domestic abuse charges, Pilar smirks at the camera. The fallout from Sanders' arrest is likely to be huge. She will certainly lose custody of her minor children, and any endorsements she acquired as a result of being married to former NFL star Deion Sanders.
A judge will probably force her to move out of the residence she shares with Deion, since he will ask for a restraining order. According to Deion's daughter, Deiondra Sanders, Pilar had refused to move out of the mansion.
Deion took to his Twitter page last night to tweet about the attack by Pilar and a female friend, known as @Toothickchick on Twitter.com.
On the very day that former NFL star Deion Sanders confirmed his relationship with Hollywood trampoline Tracey Edmonds, a fight broke out ... in his bedroom.
According to tweets sent out on Deion Sanders' official Twitter page, his estranged wife, Pilar Sanders (pictured above) and a friend of hers jumped him right in front of their sons in Dallas today. Now Deion says he is pressing charges.
Sarah Palin lashed out at the ousted Secret Service supervisor who wrote on his Facebook that he was "checking her out," when he was supposed to be protecting the former Republican presidential candidate during a campaign stop in 2008.
David Chaney, one of two supervisors who was forced to resign from the Secret Service last week, wrote in 2009: "I was really checking her out, if you know what i mean?" -- in the caption under a photo of himself seemingly leering at Palin (above).
He also joked that he was "a stalker."
"Well, check this out, buddy — you're fired!" Palin said Thursday during a Fox News interview.
Palin blamed President Obama for his lax leadership and poor management of government which may have set the stage for the prostitute scandal in Cartagena, Colombia.
Calling the sex scandal "a symptom of government run amok," Palin cautioned the president to be wary of Secret Service agents around first lady Michelle Obama.
"It's like, who's minding the store around here?" Palin told Fox. "The president, for one, he better be wary, there, of when Secret Service is accompanying his family on vacation. They may be checking out the first lady instead of guarding her."
So I see many people don't have experience with coke and that's a good thing. Sadly, they think Rihanna is just rolling a blunt. Wrong. When you have a large quantity of cocaine such as the pile Rihanna has on that man's head, you do use some sort of paper (usually something firmer) to mix it and get the lumps out.
Kim Kardashian and her new bestie, NeNe Leakes were spotted leaving Nobu restaurant in West Hollywood, CA, last night. The two women are partners in a new shoe line that will launch soon. The ladies shared an awkward moment when NeNe leaned in to kiss Kim good night. My paparazzi friend tells me that Kim's head suddenly snapped back at the last minute. Either NeNe's breath was kickin' or Kim is one of those fake friends who blow air kisses.
The "Basketball Wives" publicity machine is running on all cylinders -- assisted by corny write ups on TMZ.com.
This entire season of BBQ Wives centers around 2 episodes -- this week's and next week's -- in which Jennifer Williams, Evelyn Lozada, and Evelyn's fake "assistant" Nia, go to war.
Nia fired the first salvo in January by slapping Jennifer (who I'm told will be paid a bonus for fighting). The slap was conveniently filmed by VH1 in January and aired in this week's episode.
Then, yesterday, TMZ reports that Jennifer filed a civil suit against Nia -- in April -- for a slap which occurred in January. Coincidentally, the civil suit was filed after the episode aired. I'm sure the courts don't take lightly to being pimped for television ratings.
How much are you willing to bet this frivolous civil suit will be dropped before it can be tossed out of court?
Rapper Nicki Minaj, 29, flew into a rage on Sunday and deleted her Twitter page, leaving millions of her Stans steaming mad.
According to loyal reader Ashland, Nicki became enraged when the webmaster of www.nickidaily.com, "one of her biggest supports and fan sites," posted leaked a music sampler of Nicki's latest CD on the website -- "and Nicki went ape shit and had her followers bash her" on Twitter.com.
In response to the bashing, Ashland says the webmaster abruptly shut down her website and deleted her Twitter account. That's when Nikki's followers -- the sane ones -- started bashing Nicki for being an online bully.
An exasperated Nicki tweeted: "Like seriously, its but so much a person can take. Good fucking bye," -- before deleting her Twitter account.
This all goes to show you how immature and irresponsible some celebrities can be. I mean really, a superstar like Nicki should know that bullying -- whether online or in person -- can drive an unstable person to commit suicide.
And, let's face it, most celebrity Stans are a bit unstable.
Nothing gets my attention faster than an arrogant celebrity threatening a lawsuit over something he did wrong.
This morning, while perusing my Twitter timeline, I stumbled upon a Twitter rant by Gina, owner of What About Our Daughters blog. It seems that Kevin Hart, star of Think Like A Man, posted an offensive, anti black woman cartoon on his facebook page and then threatened to sue anyone who re-posted it.
It seems that Hart has a history of making ignorant comments about black women on social websites. And when I say black women, I'm referring to women two shades darker than Rihanna -- the only type that Hart will date nowadays.
President Obama isn't apologizing for calling rapper Kanye West a "jackass" in 2009. In fact, the president still considers West to be a jackass, albeit a talented one.
Back in 2009, an off-the-record comment by Obama, was tweeted by an ABC reporter, who wrote: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a “jackass” for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential.”
The reporter quickly deleted the tweet, but it was retweeted by thousands of Twitter users, prompting an ABC spokesman to release a statement apologizing to the White House and CNBC.
But apparently, President Obama still doesn't think much of Kanye.
Years ago I wrote a post about Khloe Kardashian dating rapper Young Jeezy. Literally minutes after I published that post, an email from Jeezy's publicist landed in my Inbox. She wanted me to know, in no uncertain terms, that Khloe was not dating Jeezy.
9-time Grammy winner Mary J Blige probably never thought she would become a punch line at this stage in her career. Unfortunately, Mary now finds herself the laughing stock of the industry, after Burger King inadvertently released an unfinished commercial featuring Mary that went viral.
What could have possessed Mary to jump up on a table top and sing the immortal words, "crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses, French dressing, wrapped up in a tasty flour tortilla"?
Whatever her motivation was, you can bet Mary regrets signing on to do that commercial.
Now, Mary's fans are uploading their own YouTube videos spoofing Mary's Burger King ad.
And Hot 97 in New York is holding a 'Chicken Idol' Crispy Chicken battle, and inviting celebrities such as 'Love & Hip Hop's Yandy Smith to do their own Mary J impression.
Most of us who didn't watch season 4 of Bravo's partially scripted 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' really don't care that the reunion show is coming up. But some of you do care. So here's the tea: RHOA veteran Sheree Whitfield has apparently been shown the door -- but she won't be leaving quietly. Sources say Sheree will "lose her mind" during the show's finale. She was irrelevant anyway.
It didn't help matters for Sheree that her ex-husband, Bob Whitfield, started dating Atlanta blogger Michelle, owner of StraightfromtheA.
They say Sheree was so intimidated by Michelle that she apparently used her pull with the show's producers to keep Michelle from joining the cast 2 seasons ago.
Well, Sheree's "pull" is now gone, and apparently so is she.
Bob Whitfield's disastrous appearance on the show this season failed to generate a story line. So he packed his things and moved to the west coast where he has enrolled in college. According to sources, Michelle and Whitfield continue their relationship long distance. She is considering a move to the west coast, since Bob has no plans to return to the Atlanta area.
9 time Grammy winner Mary J Blige thinks Burger King knew exactly what they were doing when they posted an unfinished television commercial on YouTube last week.
The commercial featured a cartoonish Blige, 41, standing on a table top singing the praises of Burger King's crispy fried chicken wraps and all its toppings.
Mary's fans reacted with fury across all social networking platforms when the ad was released. But Mary tells TMZ.com she never signed off on the ad that sparked outrage on Twitter.com for its stereotyping of blacks and fried chicken.
Mary J. tells TMZ, “I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that's not what was happening in that clip."
Burger King yanked the ad from its YouTube channel, claiming the racist ad was released prematurely "before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained." But that excuse doesn't hold water for Mary.
Mary tells TMZ, "I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out."
Burger King has since apologized to Mary, and they say a new, completed version of the controversial ad will be released soon.
There was a time, not so long ago, when Mary J. Blige was on top of the R&B world. Her rich, superior vocals were compared to the likes of Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle. But you can bet that neither Aretha nor Patti would stoop so low as to sing for a Burger King fried chicken meal on top of a lunch table.
Thus is how far Mary J. Blige has fallen.
Yesterday, Burger King pulled the commercial ad featuring the 41-year-old singer after she was dragged unmercifully across all major social networking websites on Monday. How embarrassing for Mary, whose 1992 debut album, What's the 411? is still considered an R&B classic.
You can feel Mary's humiliation throughout the commercial as she wails the answer to the question: "What's in the new chicken snack wraps?"
The theme of the Burger King commercial is "Exciting things are happening at Burger King." Apparently, nothing exciting is happening in Mary's career right now.
During a press conference in London for the new movie 'Battleship,' a rude reporter had the nerve to imply that Rihanna was unhappy in her personal life. The reporter asked if "a certain Mr. Kutcher" would be making the trip to London for the movie's premiere.
First of all, Rihanna has never confirmed the silly rumors that she was dating Ashton Kutcher.
But besides that, the "Talk That Talk" singer was simply stunned at the reporter's assumption that she was unhappy without a man in her life.
After a brief pause to collect her thoughts, Rihanna replied, "Wow, how disappointing was that question."
A moderator jumped in, but Rihanna continued, "I'm happy and I'm single, if that's what you're really asking."
Rihanna should have told the rude reporter that she and her personal assistant, Melissa Forde (pictured above), are very happy together.
We now know that the man who quit his job in order defend George Zimmerman to the national news media barely knows him.
Joe Oliver, a former CNN anchor, has been making the rounds of cable news and TV talk programs defending Zimmerman, the man who gunned down unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, Feb. 26.
it is not uncommon for former or current professional talking heads to offer their "services" to victim's families as "family friends" whenever a major news story explodes into the national conscience the way Trayvon's shooting has.
You would think that the media would be more forthcoming about the fact that they are interviewing one of their own. But they often don't because they don't want to jeopardize their access to the victim's family.
On Tuesday night, 'Last Word,' with host Lawrence O'Donell and his guests The New York Times' Charles Blow and The Washington Post's Jonathan Capehart, ripped the lid off of Oliver's claims that he was a "close friend" of Zimmerman's.
Kim Kardashian was flour bombed by a woman at her event last night in West Hollywood. Kim K. was at the London Hotel for the launch of her fragrance, True Reflection. She was walking the red carpet when a woman threw a bag containing a white, powdery substance at her from behind. The powder covered the back of Kim's jacket and her expensive hair weave. Kim was escorted to her dressing room where she cleaned up, shook out her weave and returned to the event. Police and the fire department were called to determine if the powder was a hazardous material -- it wasn't. The woman was detained by police, according to TMZ.com.
Skeptics on Twitter.com say Kim staged this stunt to promote her fragrance line. I wouldn't put it past her.
CNN reports that Sanford police chief Bill Lee is stepping down "temporarily" while the federal probe into his police department's corrupt cover up of Trayvon Martin case continues.
"I am aware that my role as a leader of this agency has become a distraction from the investigation," he told reporters. "It is apparent that my involvement in this matter is overshadowing the process. Therefore, I have come to the decision that I must temporarily remove myself from the position."
He added, "I do this in the hopes of restoring some semblance of calm to the city, which has been in turmoil for several weeks."
NAACP President Ben Jealous said Lee's stepping aside is not enough. "Parents don't feel that their children will be safe with Lee heading the police department," he said. "He needs to go right now."
A New York Times bestselling author and his television crew were attacked by comedian Chris Rock who was upset over a tea party question.
Jason Mattera, author of the book Hollywood Hypocrites: The Devastating Truth About Obama’s Biggest Backers, was pounced on by Rock, 47, who grabbed an expensive video camera -- from a camerawoman -- and hurled it 50 feet, according to Breitbart.com.
“I was stunned,” said Mr. Mattera in an exclusive interview with Big Hollywood. “Tea Party members get called the worst things imaginable and still remain peaceful. But ask a big Hollywood celebrity to explain himself and the guy goes ballistic, wrestles the camera away from my camerawoman, chucks it 50 feet, and then challenges me to a fight. It’s unreal. And it perfectly illustrates why I decided to investigate and writeHollywood Hypocrites.”
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on January 23, 2012, at Spike Lee’s Sundance Film Festival after party at Tao night club. No police charges were filed.
Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina doesn't think much of R&B singer Bobby Brown as a father. In fact, she despises him so much that she wants nothing to do with his first or last name.
According to TMZ.com, Bobbi K. wanted to change her name to "Kristina Houston" when her parents filed for divorce in 2000, but her mother talked her out of it. Now that Whitney has passed away, the 19-year-old will go ahead with her plans to sever all connections to her father.
According to TMZ.com, the last straw came when Brown made a scene at his ex-wife's funeral last month over seating arrangements for his entourage of 9 -- including his 4 children by past relationships.
Bobbi K. reportedly made the decision with a sober mind and is in a "better place" than she's been in a while.
The Internet is buzzing about Kim Kardashian's generous $200,000 "donation" to charity, which is supposedly double the value of the wedding gifts she received.
But anyone who runs a business knows that charitable donations can be deducted from your income tax. So she really didn't lose a penny.
Kardashian's soon-to-be ex-husband, NBA star Kris Humphries, says Kim's charitable donation is not good enough. He thinks she should give the gifts back too. Humphries was duped by Kim into marrying her for a made-for-TV wedding. The marriage ended 72 days later -- after the taping of her reality show wrapped.
Ever since Rihanna and her abusive ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, got back together, Rihanna has been throwing subliminal shots at his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, on her Twitter page.
But Karrueche struck back with a diss of her own. When Brown tweeted a photo of himself cooking a meal for Karrueche in February, Karrueche tweeted a pic of the food that Brown prepared for her. The caption read "Yup... Get mad!"
In retaliation, Rihanna tweeted the above picture of a package of rice cakes wearing sunglasses and hoop earrings. The caption below the pic read: "Ima make u my bitch."
Rihanna's Twitter followers made the obvious connection to Brown's girlfriend.
But if you think Brown is going to defend his main chick (Karrueche), or even try to make the peace between his two women -- think again.
The lyrics to Rihanna's "Birthday Cake Remix" -- which Brown hopped on and co-signed -- contain a reference to "rice cakes," which is considered an insult to the Vietnamese. Karrueche is an aspiring model who is part Vietnamese.
So did Rihanna really take it there? Is she being disrespectful and racist because she can't get her way with Chris? Or is Rihanna just being Rihanna?
Gossip website TMZ.com broke the story about comedian Mike Epps making terroristic threats to his own daughter, Bria. According to TMZ, Bria, who is 18, filed a police report against her father.
What makes this situation worse for Epps is that he used a telephonic instrument to deliver his threats. His actions could be punishable by jail time depending on the jurisdiction that he made the threats in.
According to TMZ, Epps was angry at his daughter for demanding her college tuition be paid in cash.. in her hand rather than paid directly to the college as Epps wanted to do. It seems that Bria was further annoyed after Epps went on 'The Wendy Williams Show,' and shouted out his other children but not Bria.
In the audio, which was released last night, Epps can be heard calling his daughter all types of names, including the B-word. He also threatens her with bodily harm if she releases this same audio to the media.
