Remember Brandon White, the effeminate, skinny jeans-wearing Atlanta man who was assaulted by a gang of thugs on Feb. 4? The 3 gang members who brutally beat White, and videotaped their actions, were slapped with 5-year prison sentences on Friday. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jackson Bedford also sentenced the thugs to 5 years probation each.

According to the AJC, a fourth suspect, Javaris Bradford, 24, who allegedly videotaped the beating, is still on the lam.

The crime made headlines worldwide because of the media attention on anti-gay bullying. (White, 20, is an out and proud gay man.)

But in a strange twist, several local gay activists wrote a letter to the judge asking for leniency for the 3 men.

Project Q Atlanta published the letter which was signed by local politician, state Rep. Simone Bell, who is an out and proud lesbian. Ms. Bell asked the judge to release the convicted men on probation -- so two of them could finish high school.

Coming out was the best thing Frank Ocean could have done for his unremarkable career. Ocean, a member of the eclectic Odd Future collective, announced his homosexuality in a dramatic posting on his Tumblr page last week -- just in time for the release of his album Channel Orange.

According to industry estimates, 'Orange' is on pace to sell 125-135k in its first week based on retail pre-orders. The estimates far exceeds the 40-50k units that were originally predicted.

Ocean is on pace to sell more albums next week than troubled singer Chris Brown whose heavily promoted studio album Fortune undersold all industry expectations.

Odd Future singer/songwriter Frank Ocean made a powerful statement of courage and when he came flying out of the closet earlier this week. The 24-year-old music producer -- who is responsible for Beyonce's hit song "I Miss You" -- wrote a long, poignant letter on his Tumblr page describing his unrequited love for another man.

Some industry insiders believe Frank Ocean was struggling with his affections for fellow producer Kanye West. It's worth noting that the industry has rallied together with unflinching support for Ocean, but Kanye, who is Ocean's mentor, is surprisingly quiet.

A former high school and collegiate basketball star-turned-coach was arrested and charged with having sex with the girls she coaches.

Marquita Adley (pictured), was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with three counts of sexual battery by a custodian on a victim under 18 years of age.

Adley was released on $15,000 bond after spending the night in jail. The West Broward High School girls basketball interim coach is accused of fondling a 16-year-old girl and committing other sex acts on her between April and June at the girl’s house, a teammate’s house and during a road trip.

The girl told police that she engaged in consensual sex with the coach. She said that she did not ask Adley to stop or push her away. But in Florida a 16-year-old can't consent to sex with an adult.

The last time Odd Future singer Frank Ocean made headlines was last Summer when Chris Brown's cousins chased him down and challenged him to "take the fade."

Although Ocean, 24, kept driving, he showed the same courage yesterday as he did with Brown's juvenile cousins in 2011.

Ocean (pictured above left with Jay Z) officially came out of the closet on Wednesday with an emotional, almost poetic post on his Tumblr page.

Ocean wrote: "4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide."

Ocean also wrote about the nervous upheaval he felt when he confided his infatuation for his male friend, who already had a girlfriend.

"I wept as the words left my mouth. I grieved for them, knowing I could never take them back... He patted my back. He said kind things. He did his best, but he wouldn't admit the same," wrote Ocean, who assumed -- like most gays do -- that all men are gay -- but they just need a little help to see it.

In the 1990s, rumors ran rampant that a male homosexual rapper was running through other male rappers and R&B singers in the industry. Many of us speculated who the infamous "gay rapper" was. We had our ideas but nothing was ever confirmed.

Nowadays it's easier for gay rappers to live and love openly thanks to prominent gays in the media who promote gay tolerance.

On the same day that CNN anchor Anderson Cooper revealed his homosexuality, Odd Future fans learned that Frank Ocean was also gay. The clean-cut Odd Future rapper reportedly admits to loving hard legs in at least 3 songs on his new album.

Ocean is the 2nd openly gay member of the alternative collective group. Odd Future rapper Syd the Kid lives openly as a lesbian. And troubled Odd Future leader Tyler, The Creator is rumored to be down low gay.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper finally emerged from the closet after years of hiding his lifestyle from the public.

"The fact is I'm gay," wrote CNN anchor Anderson Cooper in a poignant letter to longtime friend, Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Beast.

"I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something - something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid," Anderson wrote.

"This is distressing because it is simply not true.

"The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud," he added.

Cooper follows in the footsteps of fellow CNN anchor Don Lemon, who found the courage to leave the cramped confines of his closet to embrace his fears and uncertainties.

Oreo was careful to note that the colorful creamy fillings don't actually exist, so don't expect boxes of gay pride Oreo cookies to hit store shelves any time soon.

The Oreo gay pride cookie is just a symbol of message of tolerance, unity and love from Oreo's marketing team. Kudos to them.

Gay couples impulsively rushed to get hitched when New York passed the Marriage Equality Act on June 24, 2011. It wasn't the matrimony or the sanctity of marriage that they were after, for some it was the fame or the bragging rights that comes with being the first to do anything, like owning the newest iPhone.

In their haste to marry the woman of their dreams, Katie Marks and Dese’Rae Stage danced in the streets, then rushed up the steps of the courthouse to say "I do."

Katie wearing a magenta dress and Des dressed in skinny jeans and pink Chuck Taylors joined 23 other couples at the Pop Up Chapel, a one-day wedding event in Central Park, according to TheAtlanticwire.com.

By January, the newness of marriage had worn off, and a stark reality had set in: they really weren't made for each other after all. By March, Katie moved in with her new lover, a woman she met on Instagram. Now Katie and Des are among the first gay couples -- if not the first -- to get a divorce in NY.

"I'm trying to find the most loving way to get us through this practically," Des told a reporter, "but I do believe we never should have been anything more than friends."

Budding lesbian Willow Smith continues to spread her wings without parental supervision or concern. The youngster showed off her tongue piercing in a shocking photo uploaded to Instagram over the Gay Pride weekend.

Willow's parents, actors Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, are devout followers of the alternative religion Scientology, which teaches parents that they are only the vehicles for their children's journey to earth. Children are encouraged to lead independent lives free of the constraints of parental rule.

In other words, kids of Scientologists raise themselves the way see fit. 4-year-old Suri Cruise is also a child of Scientologists, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

  • Singer Chris Brown's longtime girlfriend Karrueche Tran laughed off rumors that her man was fighting with Emo rapper Drake over Brown's ex-girlfriend, Rihanna.

Karrueche was with Brown, 23, at the WiP nightclub in the basement of Greenhouse nightclub in NYC when the brawl erupted Wednesday night.

Karrueche was seen laughing and smiling Thursday morning as she strolled outside a New York City hotel with Brown's lesbun assistant. The 24-year-old part-time model wore light grey leggings with a white printed T-shirt and red throwback Air Jordans.

Chris reportedly ran to the cops yesterday with evidence that Drake and his Canadian mafia sparked the brawl by throwing a bottle in the general direction of Brown's head. Brown plans to press charges against Drake.

According to the NY Post's Page Six, singer Rihanna abruptly cancelled her move to London -- along with all her television commitments there. The only logical explanation for canceling her planned move to London (based on what I've been told) is her rumored love interest, singer/rapper M.I.A., was signed by Roc Nation -- the same label Rihanna is signed to -- and now M.I.A. plans to move back to America from London.

Rihanna even tweeted "Welcome home MIA" on her Twitter account in late May.

As you know, Rihanna was spending a considerable amount of time in London visiting with the 37-year-old M.I.A. Now that M.I.A. is signed to the same label as Rihanna, M.I.A. is returning to the U.S. -- where she lived until her divorce from Ben Bronfman.

The British-born singer of Sri Lankan descent gained fame with her hit single "Paper Planes" in 2007.

From the mouths of babes. A 14-year-old radio talk show host is blasting homosexuality as a choice people make. Dismissing the much totuted theory that some babies are born gay, Caiden Cowger says says "people are not born gay no matter what Lady Gaga says."

Calling homosexuality "sickening," Cowger blamed President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for "indoctrinating" teens and "encouraging" them to be gay. "We've got about 30 teenagers in this county.. that are homosexuals," says Cowger.

The teenager criticized the president for supporting gay marriage. He made the controversial statements during his radio show.
