2010 BET Awards: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Once again, I slept through the BET Awards — or as my loyal readers call it: the EBT Awards.
I swear I had every intention of watching this year’s show, especially since the good folks at BET always take such care to send me a credential request form every year, even though I never request one. One year they even filled out the form for me and sent me the credentials with a little note saying “your credential request has been approved,” lol.
The BET Awards is the singular urban spectacle of the year that manages to bring together such diverse artists as Nicki Minaj (who has zero talent), El DeBarge, Kirk Franklin and Tyrese, and make it all work.
Judging from the tweets in my timeline from last night, the 2010 BET Awards was the best in years. Since I didn’t get a chance to watch the show, the only Ugly moment for me was Chris Brown’s fake tears. So I’m posting some of the highlights of the #BETAwards tweets from Twitter.com instead:
The BAD: I searched but I couldn’t find a single tweet on my timeline about pseudo-singer Ciara’s awful black and gold Balmain frock paired with ankle booties. Why did she even show up when BET dissed her azz by banning her “Ride” video?

The GOOD:

Monica – Still Standing, Episode 2

Here is episode 2 of “Monica, Still Standing,” in case you missed it.
Hopefully, Mo will visit my suite at the Philips Arena during an upcoming Atlanta Hawks home game to meet with my readers. I don’t think we’ll have a problem making that happen. Just the other night, I was out driving and Mo called my cell to say she was having difficulty logging into my blog to chat with my readers.
How many celebrities would arbitrarily log into my blog to chat with my readers without being asked? And did I tell y’all that the whole Live Chat concept Sandrarose.com was Monica and Mia X’s idea?
Live Chat: Kandi Burruss, Tomorrow!

Former Xscape singer and Grammy winning songwriter Kandi Burrus has graciously agreed to participate in a live chat tomorrow right here on Sandrarose.com!
As you know, Kandi and the rest of her RHOA castmates will shoot the season Finale show tonight at an undisclosed location.
R&B Diva Monica and legendary rapper Mia X kicked off the Live Chats on SR last week, and they will make their chats a monthly feature! Last week’s chat went very well considering it was the first one we ever did.
In the meantime, on occasion, surprise celebrity guests stop by, like Kandi (it was a surprise to me because I didn’t think she would do it!)
Of course, that means Kandi will only answer comments from my registered members, although everyone else is free to lurk and read.
So get your questions ready and later on I will let you know the time of tomorrow’s chat!
Special thanks to legendary industry veteran Lisa McCall for making it happen!
Ask Monica & Mia X
*Bumped*
[Last night] I had a lengthy phone conversation with my friends R&B Diva Monica and legendary rapper Mia X. We discussed a lie that was posted about Mo on another site that has “absolutely no truth or merit to it.” But Monica chose to take the high road and not speak directly on the lie.
Although Monica didn’t focus on that lie, she is focused on ways to find solutions and and a platform for all of us to come together to find positive ways to help one another.
Once a month, Monica and Mia X will stop by Sandrarose.com and pose a question to our community. And now that they are official members of Sandrarose.com, they will log in and respond to your answers personally in that post.
The ladies will offer two different perspectives from two women who care about us all.
The monthly topics will range from various topics for the entire family. They’ll talk about different topics from how to change careers to losing loved ones to different ways to cook.
Mia is an expert on Southern cooking! She owns a supper club in New Orleans and she’s working on her comeback CD!
And as you know, Monica’s new reality TV show, “Still Standing” will air soon!
The first question the ladies will discuss tonight is:
Have you have ever had any experiences with people who maliciously told lies on you at any time in your lives that you have yet to recover from.
You can begin leaving your responses and Monica and Mia will be here at 7pm to respond to your comments!
Celeb Style: Monica!

Last night R&B Diva Monica took the time out of her busy schedule to come join us in a live chat here on Sandrarose.com. Monica signed in at 8:32pm and proceeded to answer questions from my readers, some of whom stayed for hours after work for the chance to chat with her!
Monica was so kind to agree to participate in a live chat with my readers every 2nd Thursday or Friday of every month. The chats will include legendary rapper Mia X, who couldn’t make last night’s chat due to computer problems.
The ladies will pose questions to my readers in an effort to resolve the ongoing social issues we as black women have with each other. We are the only race that continuously holds each other down which limits our ability to grow to our full potential.
Last night’s question focused on the need for some chicks to manufacture wholesale lies that cause irreparable damage to another person’s life just for their own personal enjoyment. It’s sick and it’s a problem that needs to be addressed.
So check back next month for Monica and Mia’s live chat on Sandrarose.com. If you missed it last night, you can read Monica’s responses in this post. And don’t forget to watch Mo’s new reality TV series ‘Still Standing’ which airs on BET on October 27!
On the style front, I received a few emails from readers asking if I knew the brand of boots that Monica wore in a recent photo shoot.
The trendy boots are made by Tory Burch in shiny patent leather in red, placed against the nylon upper. The boot is secured in the front by gold-tone tipped laces and genuine rabbit fur trim lines the shaft with soft faux fur lining on the inside.
This hawt boot retails for around $295 if you can find it!
