fanMAIL: Lil Wayne is still sipping that syrup

On Saturday, Oct. 8, we posted Lil Wayne’s “Public Service Announcement” video that we found on Derick G‘s blog.

To be honest, we didn’t even watch one second of that video, because, after all, Lil Wayne was in it. But we regret not watching the video after reading the following email from loyal reader SouthernLegalDiva.

Sandra,

I know you do “medical minutes” frequently on your blog. Recently, Lil Wayne posted a PSA wherein he explains his use of Promethazine DM Syrup as being prescribed by a doctor as a sleep aid. I have never heard of this usage. I could only watch about 6 mins of the video, as the BS level was through the roof. It was featured on Straightfromthea.com

Thanks, SouthernLegalDiva

It’s clear that Lil Wayne is still under the influence of drugs, specifically purple drank cough syrup — but he’s doing it legally, right under the nose of his probation officer. He says so right there in the video.

Jackson Family Feud Over Tribute Concert (video)

Three of Michael Jackson’s siblings were no-shows at his “Forever Michael” Tribute concert in England over the weekend.

Pop star Janet Jackson and her brothers, Randy and Jermaine Jackson, decided not to attend the tribute concert because they considered it inappropriate to hold the concert while the Conrad Murray manslaughter trial was still ongoing in Los Angeles.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Janet, 45, said “Because of the trial, the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me,” her statement reads.

Her older brothers Randy, 49, and Jermaine, aka Muhammed Abdul Aziz, 56, released a joint statement on the day the concert was announced:

“There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael,” the brothers’ statement read. “But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.”

According to ABC News, there is also criticism that the Jackson family is keeping some of the money that’s supposed to be earmarked for charities. There are rumors that this is the reason several A-list celebrities pulled out of the concert.

3 of Conrad Murray’s girlfriends testify in his manslaughter trial

3 girlfriends of Michael Jackson’s former physician, Conrad Murray, took the stand yesterday in the disgraced doctor’s manslaughter trial.

Nicole Alvarez (pictured above), a former stripper who lives with Murray, gave a memorable performance on the stand. The mother of one of Murray’s 7 children described her body as her “instrument” and said she was “speechless” when she met Michael Jackson in 2008.

“As a professional actress, my daily duties consists of maintaining my instrument,” said Alvarez on the witness stand. When asked by the prosecutor what she was referring to as her instrument, Alvarez said “myself.”

She testified that Murray called her from the ambulance while Jackson was being rushed to the hospital.

“I remember him telling me that he was on the way to the hospital with Mr. Jackson, and for me not to be alarmed,” she said.

Jackson’s assistant says Murray asked him for ride back to mansion to remove bleaching cream

Michael Jackson’s personal assistant took the witness stand on the second day of Conrad Murray’s involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles.

Michael Amir Williams testified that Jackson’s former doctor called him frantically on the morning of June 25, 2009 begging him to send help for Jackson, who lay dying in the bedroom of a rented Holmby Hill mansion.

“He said, ‘Get here right away, Mr. Jackson had a bad reaction. Get somebody up here immediately,”’ Williams said.

Williams testified that he called Jackson’s bodyguard, Alberto Alvarez, who was outside, and told him to get up to the 2nd floor bedroom to check on Jackson.

Williams said Jackson had previously given strict orders that only Jackson and the children were allowed on the 2nd floor of the mansion.

“I told [Alvarez], ‘I don’t know what’s going on, but you have to go inside the house,’” said Williams. “I remember him walking, and I said, ‘Are you there, yet.’ He said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Well run, hurry.‘”

Prosecution plays recording of Jackson slurring his words

The defense in the manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson’s former personal physician says the 50-year-old pop star drugged himself with the sedative Propofol while Dr. Conrad Murray was out of the room. Jackson died of cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009.

The defense contends that Jackson killed himself, and that Murray was unaware that his patient swallowed a cocktail of drugs, including a dose of the anesthetic, which is not made to be swallowed.

But the prosecution played an audio of Michael Jackson slurring his speech on May 10, 2009. The audio was recorded on Dr. Murray’s iPhone while Jackson was under the heavy influence of unknown drugs.

The prosecution says Dr. Murray was fully aware of how drugged Jackson was a month before he died. Yet the doctor continued to administer potentially deadly drugs to Jackson.

“When people leave my show, I want them to say, ‘I’ve never seen nothing like this in my life,’ ” Jackson said on the audio.

Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, bit her lip and wiped away tears as the recording of Jackson slurring his words played in the courtroom.

Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter and administering a lethal dose of the surgical anesthetic propofol.

Michael Jackson Manslaughter Trial Opens with Shocking Photo

According to the NY Post, a video image showing the dead body of Michael Jackson on a hospital gurney was shown today to jurors during opening statements of Dr. Conrad Murray’s manslaughter trial which started today in Los Angeles.

“The acts and the omissions of Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, directly led to his premature death at the age of 50,” said Los Angeles Deputy DA David Walgren.

Michael Jackson paid “far too high a price” for the criminally negligent care of his doctor when the world-famous singer dropped dead two years ago, prosecutors said.

Jackson’s siblings, Janet, 45, and Randy, 49, attended the trial.

The video image shows Jackson’s pale, lifeless body lying on a gurney after attempts by emergency room docs to restart his heart failed. The word ‘Homicide’ is edited into the frame.

Jackson still has the intubation tube down his throat, which paramedics used in a futile effort to pump air into his lungs before he got to the hospital. The video was probably shot in the coroner’s office since there is no other emergency equipment visible in the photo.
