Celebrity Seed: La La and Carmelo Anthony

It should have been a relaxing day on the Beach in Miami for media personality La La Anthony and her son Kiyan. But instead Kiyan had to contend with the disruption of reality TV cameras as he played in the sand and surf.

LaLa was shooting scenes for her VH1 reality show, La La’s Full Court Life on the beach today. Although he receives a paycheck for being his mommy’s prop, Kiyan doesn’t have a say in the decision to be in the show — but his father does. Carmelo Anthony doesn’t want anything to do with the show, and friends say he allows La La to exploit Kiyan on the show “to keep the peace at home.”

New Birth Crowns Bishop Eddie Long as King

Some of you may recall that disgraced preacher Eddie Long stepped down from his position as spiritual leader of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church late last year. His stated goal was to focus on his family — in particular, his long-suffering wife who is divorcing him.

Well, Bishop Long is back in the pulpit. And he returned in typical dramatic fashion.

New Birth brought in a controversial “Rabbi” to crown Long as King in an elaborate Jewish ceremony using 300-year-old sacred scrolls that were found discarded outside a concentration camp in Germany in the 1940s.

I wonder how the Jews feel about this?

Update I, 4:45 pm ET: according to this blog, the “Rabbi” isn’t even Jewish and the 300-year-old “Jewish scrolls” are fake:

Rapper Angry at Mitt Romney for Using His Song

According to the Huffington Post, Rapper K’Naan is angry with Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney for using his song “Wavin’ Flag” during his Florida primary victory speech on Tuesday.

In a statement Wednesday, K’naan says Romney’s campaign didn’t seek approval to use the song and that he would not have granted permission if it had.

The Somali-born, Canadian-based rapper says he would happily grant President Barack Obama’s campaign the use of the song.

But Romney’s camp defends the usage of the song under a blanket copyright license that covers songs performed by candidates or played over public address systems.

It seems odd that K’naan — also known as the Dusty Foot Philosopher — offered his song free of charge to the Obama administration. I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama didn’t have a hand in this. I never heard of K’naan or “Wavin’ Flag” until today. K’naan should be grateful that Romney gave his song free pub.

Listen to the song after the break.

Who Knew Jennifer Williams bats for the other team?

Today’s story on celebrity gossip site TMZ.com about ‘Basketball Wives’ cast member Jennifer Williams feuding with Evelyn Lozada’s assistant, Nia Crooks (right), jarred my memory about an interesting email I received last year.

In her email my loyal reader, who identified herself as “Patricia,” claimed to have had a torrid love affair with the still-married Williams.

Patricia wrote that she met Williams 3 years ago at the Miami Club where she earned a modest living as an exotic dancer. She said JW took an instant liking to her because she reminded JW of “a younger version” of herself.

Patricia said the two women exchanged phone numbers and JW called her just a few hours later to make sure she “got home safely.” Patricia recalled how JW “wined and dined” her at fancy restaurants. Their friendship quickly blossomed into something “more meaningful,” Patricia wrote.

Patricia, who admits she is bisexual, described sex with JW as “intense” but infrequent. She wrote that she and Williams, who assumed the more dominant role, argued often and Williams seemed to be obsessed with exerting complete control over her.

BLOODBATH: Simon Cowell Fires Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones from X-Factor

Quick: who won the 2011 US X-Factor?

I watched bits and pieces of the woefully boring US X-Factor reality show, and the worst part of the show were the judges. A judge is supposed to remain neutral and unbiased. How can a judge make an unbiased decision when he or she is emotionally involved to the point of breaking down in tears?

The glaring flaws of the judge’s panel drew widespread criticism from the media – especially after Nicole Scherzinger’s fake sobbing during the Top 5 performances show in December. In fact, Nicole’s “performance” was so bad that enraged viewers slammed her on Twitter.com, and even threatened her life.

Judge Paula Abdul was universally hated for telling Scherzinger to let the public make the decision whether to send 13-year-old Rachel Crow home.

It was clear that something had to be done about the celebrity judges.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Simon Cowell has fired judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and the horrible suck-up Steve Jones.

Recording exec LA Reid’s job might also be on the chopping block. THR reports that “a source close to LA Reid says the fourth member of the X Factor panel has not been informed of any change to his status as judge.”

Secret Service Probe Bullet-Riddled Image of Obama on Cop’s Facebook Page

A bullet-riddled photo of President Barack Obama posted to a cop’s Facebook page has attracted the attention of the Secret Service.

The picture on the facebook page of Peoria police sergeant Pat Shearer depicts seven young men, four of them holding automatic weapons, and one displaying a black t-shirt with an image of Obama that is bullet-riddled and slashed.

According to published reports, a citizen alerted the Secret Service to the image which has since been removed from Shearer’s Facebook page.

“Any time information like this is brought to our attention we have to conduct a follow-up,” Max Milien, spokesman for the Secret Service, said, according to AZcentral.com.

“We understand an individual’s right to free speech but we also have the right to speak to the individual to determine what their intent is,” Milien added.

Would you drink donkey semen and urine to be on TV?

An upcoming episode of NBC’s ‘Fear Factor‘ has the network’s top brass very nervous. The hit TV show calls for contestants to swallow a glass full of donkey semen, followed quickly by a glass of donkey urine to wash it all down.

Sources involved in the production tell us the stomach-churning stunt was shot last summer — but NBC honchos were having a tough time swallowing this one as the air date approached.

Our sources say NBC execs had multiple pow-wows in the months after the stunt was shot … but eventually gave FF producers the thumbs up.

Calls to NBC were not immediately returned.

The episode of Fear Factor, which tests the limits of what humans will do for fame and fortune, airs this Monday.
