Morning Wood & Morning Glory: Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union

Good morning! Today we decided to combine Morning Wood & Morning Glory posts for you ladies and gents. We hope you and your family are enjoying your Labor Day weekend. Here in Atlanta it’s a cloudy 75 degrees with a 60% chance of thunderstorms. It’s not a good day for BBQs or hitting the beach. Fortunately, the weather in Miami was beautiful for 38-year-old Cougar Gabrielle Union, who spent quality time with her boy toy, NBA star Dwayne Wade, 29, and his two sons, Zaire, 9, and Zion, 4, along with their young friends during a family outing on Miami beach on Sunday. Wade won full custody of his sons following a bitter child custody battle with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. The couple divorced in 2007.

Gabby wore a string bikini with the word HEAT emblazoned on her backside. Wade plays for the struggling Miami Heat who suffered an embarrassing loss in the 2011 NBA Finals to the lowly Dallas Mavericks. But things will be much different in 2012 if the owners ever come to an agreement and lift the NBA lockout.

Ladies, watch your girlfriends around your men. Especially if she can never keep a man for herself. Always remember — unless she is a lesbian — she is your competition. She is paying close attention to your every move. She’s taking notes and positioning herself to take advantage of your mistakes. Watch her!

Update: according to a loyal reader, the woman pictured above with D. Wade and Gabby is actress Essence Atkins, who was accompanied by her husband, Jaime Mendez, whom she met on Match.com (thanks blkmiami!). But my advice still stands: watch those thirsty chicks around your man.

LisaRaye wants you to know…

“Single Ladies” star LisaRaye, who is currently on tour in Italy (no doubt spending that “Single Ladies” cash), was forced to interrupt her vacation yesterday to respond to the backlash she received from Stacey Dash fans on Facebook.

As you know, there are unsubstantiated rumors circulating about Dash’s abrupt termination from the popular VH1 show. LisaRaye posted this message to her Facebook wall:

As everyone know I am in Italy vacationing. I was just made aware of the lies that are being spread by Mediatakeout and other blogs that like to create false stories. I was not even aware that Stacy Dash had been fired from Single Ladies. Furthermore if she has been fired that is a network decision. I don’t have the power to get her fired nor do I have any beef with her. Now im going to go continue enjoying my vacation!

Stacy Littlejohn, the show’s principal writer and executive producer, also responded to the grilling on LisaRaye’s Facebook:

LisaRaye is a very strong woman and we love her, but she does not have that kind of power, nor at any time did she seek to influence any casting decisions. Furthermore, no cast member of Single Ladies has the power to get another cast member fired. the 6th grade back-stabbing that LisaRaye’s being accused of is completely the creation of uninformed, instigating internet gossip. Please don’t buy into it. Let’s just celebrate that we have a Season 2 coming!!!!

But why would anyone think LisaRaye had anything to do with Dash’s dismissal from the show when LisaRaye is just a cast member herself? If people on Facebook are this dumb I’m glad I don’t have a Facebook page.

Anyway, LisaRaye tweeted these photos from her vacation. Enjoy!

Hello Sandra,

I will first start off by saying that I absolutely love your blog!! Even when you are bias, at the end of the day we all are to a certain extent. When everyone in the office going for their first cup of coffee, I on the other hand am also getting my first dose on your blog, lol. I don’t always agree with you however I will say that I respect you for keeping it real on all levels and what I truly admire are the times you’ve admit to being wrong. Many faces have come to grace your blog for morning glory and most definitely I felt it was time to stand out for the beautiful sisters with their heads shining like the midnight moon, bald and beautiful!! I’m of Haitian descendant, pursing a second degree while show casing talent for the curvy, well proportioned women out there. This industry is the nature of the beast and can easy manipulate women to fall in between the cracks and accept the no’s. However, I’m the definition of the average woman, beautiful burnt skin, flaws and all yet still demanding my respect. I want to let every aspiring model out there striving to know that it’s never over until YOU, yourself throw in the towel and say it is. I want to wish you continued success and please preserve what has made me a FAN from the beginning which is being YOU because even when some may not like it they will RESPECT it. Thank you for making my day, EVERY day!! :~)

LIVE, LOVE and always LAUGH

Warm Regards,

Tico

Morning Glory: Estelle, Rihanna

Singers Estelle and Rihanna’s bikini shots set the Internets ablaze yesterday. Rihanna was spotted frolicking in the surf with friends (and her ever present publicist who makes sure the troubled singer isn’t drinking or doing drugs).

Meanwhile, halfway around the world, British chanteuse Estelle dazzled Saint-Tropez with in her cute little string bikini. Which singer do you think is hotter? Personally, I would choose anyone over Rihanna because of her mental issues. I don’t care how hawt she looks in a string bikini if she has a personality disorder. That’s a deal breaker for me.

Morning Glory: Aisha Nicole

Hey Sandra,

My name is Aisha Nicole. First off let me say I love your blog and read it every morning and at lunch time while at work :) We chat sometimes on twitter. I would love to be featured on the Morning Glory post! I work full time in Corporate America at a Brokerage Firm however my passion is modeling. I am a print model from Chicago looking to take over the game one photo at a time. Im considered to be curvy in the modeling world even though Im only a size 8, its hard to get signed if you’re not a size 0 or size 12….. I feel I represent the everyday woman. Also it is extremely hard not to be typecast as a Video vixen or Glamour model if you are a little thick.

Im working on creating a better image for women of color who are curvy. We are more than our hips and thighs. I plan to use my “Face” to get ahead and not my ass…..even though that’s great too. I have dreams of gracing the covers of top beauty mags like Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar. What ever happened to showcasing garments, hair and beauty products ? Thank you for your consideration.
