Paula Patton Covers JEZEBEL Magazine
Actress Paula Patton covers the November 2011 issue of JEZEBEL magazine, which is based out of Atlanta. Patton, 35, is in heavy demand these days due to her coveted role as a beautiful secret spy in the action thriller Mission: Impossible, Ghost Protocol, starring Tom Cruise.
Patton says she didn’t have much confidence in snagging the plum role. So when she was called in to audition, she told the producers, “Come on, guys, don’t waste my time!”
The film hits theaters Dec. 15. The ‘Precious’ star is well-known in the black community, but this role is expected to place her squarely on Hollywood’s A-list.
Despite her many successes, Patton, who is married to R&B singer Robin Thicke, and has a toddler, Julian; reveals she prefers living in a fantasy world, because she “doesn’t like reality very much.”
This seems strange coming from a woman who, on the outside, seems to have everything. “I love my son; I love my husband; and then I want to take them into my dream world,” she told JEZEBEL.
“My dream is Paris, and good food, and beautiful sunsets, and no worries, and no stress and life floating on a cloud!”
JEZEBEL magazine’s Nov. 2011 issue featuring the 50 Most Beautiful Atlantans is on newsstands now!

‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’ (Video)

Yesterday, one of my loyal readers, EB, posted a link to a short film titled ‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’.
At first I wasn’t going to post the film because the subject matter is so disturbing that it might cause mental anguish in some of my readers. But after speaking with a friend last night, I decided to post this film and use it as a teachable moment.
Without giving away too much of the plot (for those of you who want to see it), let’s just say that this film can only be categorized as a “dark comedy” because it is laughable.
There is a good reason why we can only access 10% of our brain power. The brain has many defense mechanisms in place to protect itself (and you) from the type of activity that is depicted in this film.
The young man in this film would have to circumvent those defense mechanisms in his brain to be able to do what he does. And as a result, he would be psychologically disturbed. It would not be a secret to anyone around him that he was psychotic.
The scene where the young man appears to be a normal, healthy adult about to get married would never happen in real life.
This is the reason why men like Usher Raymond, who are stuck in the Oedipus complex phase, seek out older women for sexual gratification — because the alternative would be psychological harmful.
So as you watch this film, take it for what it is: a comedy that sprang from the overactive imagination of a man (the director) who has a limited understanding of how the brain works.
Kim Kardashian spotted hanging out in Atlanta
Disgraced reality star Kim Kardashian isn’t hiding in her hotel while in Atlanta filming a cameo for Tyler Perry’s new film.
According to the NY Post, “Kim headed out on the town in Atlanta last night, getting dinner at Spice Market in the W Hotel with several friends from the set of Tyler Perry’s new movie “The Marriage Counselor.”
Kardashian has been in Atlanta filming since Monday. She plays Ava, a friend and co-worker of marriage counselor Judith, played by Jurnee Smollett of “Friday Night Lights.” Since Judith is romantically challenged, Ava swoops in to give her a makeover. It’s a fitting role for fashion-conscious Kardashian.
The reality TV star returned to Twitter yesterday after a few days’ absence, writing, “I miss my twitter dolls! Love u guys.” She continued with a statement on how she is being handled in the press. “What a wise little soul my baby sister RT @KylieJenner: It’s always the people who know the least about you who want to judge you the most,” she wrote.
And it’s always the ones who depend on you for their livelihood who enable you and make excuses for your behavior.
