According to Nigel D. of Real Talk NY blog, rapper Fabolous' "Lights Out" video was shot at club Greenhouse in NYC on Saturday. "Lights Out," will be on Fabolous' There Is No Competition 2 EP, dropping August 31st. The video was directed by Aristotle.
As you can see, there wasn't much to write home about from the set
Rapper Young Jeezy chose the old Fourth Ward neighborhood near downtown Atlanta to shoot his music video for "Jizzle" featuring Lil Jon 2 weeks ago.
These are your typical Atlanta breezy's who think they are too cute to smile. I do love the fact that all -- except one -- are dark skinned sistas. This must be some kind of record for a rap video. Kudos to Jeezy!
If you waited with heated anticipated for the world premiere of Kanye West's over ambitious video treatment for his track "Power", you were among the millions who were hoodwinked and bamboozled by this narcissist.
He said it was a painting, didn't he?
Last night I was on the phone with a friend as the video premiered on MTV at 11:01 PM. My friend considers himself an unapologetic fan of the troubled producer/rapper.
"Wow. This is hawt!," he exclaimed excitedly as the strains from the opening seconds of the video emerged from his television in the background.
Fans of Jamaica's Barbee are in an uproar over the way American Barbie Nicki Minaj landed on the island and immediately pulled rank over a sexy singer who also goes by the name Barbee.
Scenes featuring Barbee were left on the cutting room floor during the final edit of Sean Kingston's "Letting Go (Dutty Love)" music video, much to Barbee's fans dismay.
Obviously Nicki Minaj was intimidated by a true Reggae queen who doesn't need butt injections or fake accents to get attention.
I much prefer the original version of the video with the real Barbee in every scene. Sean Kingston is a true punk for giving in to Nicki's tantrums.
Loyal reader Anastasia Rose writes:
I'm vacationing with some friends in Ocho Rios, Jamaica when I see the infamous *NICKI MINAJ*. I was so excited when I realized that Sean Kingston's new video Dutty Love was being shot by my hotel. However, while scoping out the set, I realized that although Ms Nicki was featured in the song, she definitely wasn't the one everyone was paying attention to.
In all actuality, *the lead of the video, Barbee,* was the star of the shoot. Nicki looked *PISSED* and she was very standoffish to those around her.
Now, I've never heard of Barbee until that weekend but apparently she's a hotshot Reggae artist from the island. So i was really shocked when I saw the release of the video and she was cut out of all the scenes. I know Nicki is known as a Barbie, but was she that intimidated by Barbee.
Heres the *video of Barbie in every scene* I was searching on the web and found the original video with Barbee in all the scenes [view above] and here's the *video that has hit the web with out Barbee*
Director Marco Brambilla explains how he came up with the concept for Kanye West's overly ambitious music video "Power" which premieres tonight at 9 PM on MTV.
"Power" merges digitized animation, paranormal visual effects, soft porn and other nonsensical scenes of orgasmic milieu that you would expect to find in the crevices of Kanye's disturbed mind.
Is there anything that Kanye can conceive that shocks us anymore?
Eminem's music video for "Love The Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna, will also premiere tonight on MTV.
Here's what Eminem had to say on working with Rihanna and the video director Joseph Khan:
“Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right. Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic on board for this….they really brought it and made this video super-powerful.”
The video premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT. Will you be watching?
Upscale hype posted these pics of rapper Rick Ross showing off his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date II watch (estimated $25,000 – $30,000) while chilling in the back seat of a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce Ghost in the trailer for his single “Live Fast, Die Young” off the Teflon Don LP.
Troubled rapper/producer Kanye West also favors the classic lines of the timeless beauty that is the Rolex Day-Date watch. Kanye tweeted this pic of his personal favorite this week on his Twitter page.
I hear that the gold-on-gold Rolex Day-Date is the preferred timepiece of ballers in the ATL. Even the groupies in the clubs have taken to wearing cheap knockoffs of this classic timepiece to impress the rappers and ballers.
Note to the fellas: if her Rolex watch face has scratches on it, it's a fake.
In a conversation with a CNN reporter last week, I talked about certain celebrity geniuses who reached a pinnacle of their careers that most artists never attain.
But instead of being remembered for their contributions to their art, these stars are remembered for the way they flamed out.
Kanye West is one such musical genius slash narcissist who will be remembered for the way his career went up in a ball of flames.
The NY Times' Artsbeat blog reports that Kanye's new music video for his lame track "Power" invites us into the dark, twisted fantasies of his mind "teeming with debauchery, degradation and the ominous specter of death."
Sounds good so far, right?
In a coming video for his single “Power” that was created by the artist Marco Brambilla, Mr. West is seen standing imposingly with a heavy chain around his neck. As Mr. West raps the camera slowly zooms out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him in a classical structure, surrounded by female attendants who are partly or entirely nude; some kneel before him on all fours, others wear devil horns and still others are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The Sword of Damocles hangs precariously over Mr. West’s head, and behind him an unseen executioner is preparing to strike him with a blade. (ArtsBeat was allowed to watch a portion of this video but was not permitted to post it.) Read More...
The video will be posted on Kanye's blog next week.
Thanks to Miss Info for posting the full music video for T.I.'s "Got Your Back" featuring Keri Hilson.
T.I.'s fiancee Tiny makes a cameo toward the end of the video. Speaking of Tiny, please ignore the rumors that T.I. has called off the wedding to focus on his career. That is not true. The wedding is still on, but Tiny is dealing with a very personal issue that takes precedence right now.
