Last night about 100 deep pocket donors paid upwards of $40,000 per ticket to party side-by-side with President Barack Obama, singer Beyonce and her aging rapper husband Jay Z at his 40/40 sports club in New York City.
Beyonce introduced President Obama to the well-heeled guests, saying: “I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. We believe in his vision.”
The president warmly thanked Bey and Jay, saying: "Thank you so much for your friendship.” It must be nice to have "friends" like Beyonce and Jay Z.
It seems tickets for an upcoming Obama fundraiser with Beyonce and Jay Z in NY aren't selling quickly enough. So singer Beyonce sent out a personal email to well-heeled President Obama supporters begging them to plunk down $40,000 for a ticket to attend the fundraiser.
"I usually don’t email you," writes Beyonce in each personalized email to Obama supporters. "but I have an amazing invitation I have to share."
"Jay and I will be meeting up with President Obama for an evening in NYC sometime soon. And we want you to be there!," she adds.
It isn't like the email recipients don't know that Obama will be holding a fundraiser in NYC with Beyonce and Jay Z -- they just don't want to pay $40,000 for a ticket to attend.
Read the email Beyonce sent to Charlie Sperling, a writer for the Washington Examiner after the break.

LL Cool J's long suffering wife Simone Smith held a trunk show for her 'SIS' jewelry line at Neiman Marcus in Atlanta a few days ago. The exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces in Simone's line range from $45-$8,000, and include diamond-encrusted lollipops which go for $8,000 a pop!
Local notables attending the trunk show included (pictured above from L-R) Sean Combs's baby mamas Sarah Chapman and Misa Hylton-Brim (who happen to be besties); owner Simone Smith, and guest.

According to the NY Post's gossip column Page Six, Vogue editor-for-life, Anna Wintour, banned reality Tv star Kim Kardashian from attending her celebrity-studded MET Costume Gala on Monday. Good for her! At least somebody in the media has good taste and common sense.
Kardashian's bestie, rapper Kanye West, attended the event solo, wearing a black tux but no Kim on his arm. This led many to guess correctly that their relationship is indeed just a publicity stunt.
Kim fueled the gossip even further when she tweeted: "So excited to see all the fashion going on in New York tonight at the MET!"-- leading many to believe that she was attending -- or at least standing across the street watching as the stars rolled up in their limos.
But nothing could be further from the truth: Kim was actually thousands of miles away -- in L.A. So why would she lie about seeing the stars in their beautiful fashions? The answer is simple: Kim is a narcissist who lies about everything.
Beyonce Knowles and her husband, rap mogul Jay Z, attended Erica Reid's book launch event Tuesday in New York City. Reid is married to former Deele group member, and record exec, L.A. Reid, who also hosted the event. Attending the event were singer Mary J Blige, Erica and L.A.'s daughter; Beyonce's mother Tina, and Jane Miller, among others. Erica Reid's book is titled 'The Thriving Child' and the party was held at private residence.
It's good to see Jay Z showing affection for Beyonce in public -- especially now that rumors have surfaced about him staying away from home for prolonged periods of time. My sources tell me that Beyonce is adjusting very well to being a
single new mother. They say her postpartum depression has lifted somewhat. That's good to hear.
Miami Heat center Chris Bosh celebrated his 28th birthday with friends and family in Miami on Wednesday. Bosh was joined by his pregnant wife Adrienne Bosh, and Miami Heat teammates Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, who held an impromptu jazz session. The party was hosted by Rémy Martin, and the theme for the celebration was 1920s style.
President Barack Obama's re-election campaign will be in full swing when he touches down in Atlanta today. While here, the president will attend 3 ritzy high-ticket fundraisers targeting obscenely rich African Americans who can afford to pay a minimum of $2,500 per ticket.
Obama's haul from black supporters is expected to total $5-$6 million dollars by the time Air Force One takes off from Fort McPherson later tonight.
From ABC News:
Seventy-five supporters will mingle with the president at an as yet undisclosed private Atlanta residence, where tickets were $10,000 apiece. Then he’ll join a star-studded concert featuring CeeLo Green at the Tyler Perry Studios, where at least 1,000 Obama fans are expected in the crowd, an official said. Each paid $500 or more.
Before returning to Washington, Obama will visit the home of actor and director Tyler Perry, who’s hosting the ritziest party of the night at $35,800 per head. At least 60 people are expected to attend to toast the president.
All proceeds from the six events benefit the Obama Victory Fund, a joint account that funnels cash to the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee, the official said. The first $5,000 of an individual’s contribution goes to Obama while the remainder — up to $30,800 — goes to the DNC.
The president’s events raise to 40 his total attended for the year and 107 his total for the cycle. The first lady’s event is her 17th fundraiser of the year.
Actress and philanthropist Angelina Jolie enjoyed a Sunday afternoon walk with 3 of her multicultural brood in New Orleans. Zahara wore blue weave extension braids in her hair. Angelina's dependency on hair weave in favor of combing Zahara's tight curls sparked controversy last year.
"If Angelina wants Zahara to be in touch with her roots and have her hair braided then she can do that with the child’s own hair and she doesn’t need to add extensions,” celebrity groomer DaRico Jackson told RadarOnline.com.
Thanks to celebrity photographer Thaddaeus McAdams/ExclusiveAccess.Net for these pics from Atlantic Records Private reception for their artists T.I. and Trey Songz last night at Frank Ski's Restaurant and Lounge in midtown Atlanta. The event was held last night in advance of Trey's ANTICIPATION 2OUR (with Big Sean), which stops in Atlanta tonight (Mar. 8) at the Fox Theater. The tour heads to New Orleans (UNO Lakefront Arena) tomorrow (Mar. 9), then on to Southaven, MS (Landers Center) and Nashville, TN (Nashville Municipal Auditorium).
According to my very credible record label source, Rihanna's next single, "Birthday Cake," is in jeopardy of being shelved due to the controversy surrounding Chris Brown's feature on the track.
The much talked about "Birthday Cake" remix is the full length version of the interlude off Rihanna's gold album, Talk That Talk.
Due to popular demand, the track was revamped and Rihanna's abusive boyfriend was added to the mix. But the response to the news that Brown is on the single has reverberated online. Many of Rihanna's million strong 'Rihanna Navy' say RiRi is committing career suicide if Brown is left on the track.
I reached out to my source last night to confirm or deny new reports that Brown was no longer on the track. My source confirmed that -- yes -- Brown IS featured on the "Cake" remix, which was scheduled to drop tomorrow. But my source added that Roc Nation is "debating" shelving the remix because of "all the controversy."
According to my source, Rihanna herself is anxious for the track to be released -- in its present form -- with Chris Brown's vocals intact.
Rihanna is celebrating her 24th birthday today in Central London, near the tiny hamlet of Clapham, where your auntie was born (I'm not sure if Clapham is still tiny).
The west coast premiere of Lionsgates' 'Good Deeds' was held yesterday in Los Angeles. Gabrielle Union, who stars in the film, responded to the criticism directed toward Davis for throwing a party in the same hotel where Whitney Houston's body lay in rigor mortis on the 4th floor.
The Insider's Kevin Frazier asked Union about her decision to walk the red carpet.
"I think if you weren't there, I could understand [being upset]," said Union. "We made a judgment call after [Diddy] and Clive talked to the family and they said, 'Please go,' basically to provide a more balanced view of Whitney's life."
Self-centered celebrities have a peculiar habit of making poor judgment calls.
Gabrielle added that Whitney's family and friends were becoming frustrated by the focus being placed on the late singer's struggles with addiction.
Tyler Perry, who wrote, directed and stars in Good Deeds, reportedly lent one of his planes to transport Whitney's body from Los Angeles to New Jersey. On the red carpet, Tyler neglected to take credit for the act of kindness, changing the subject when pressed.
"This movie is more about just living your own life and choosing your own path ... and just being the best person that you can be," said Tyler. "So that's what I'm hoping that people will take away from it."
Good Deeds opens February 24. Source
Of all the celebrities who attended Clive Davis' Grandiose Pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills hotel last night, singer Alicia Keys was one of the few who had the common decency to bypass the red carpet while the body of the late Whitney Houston lay upstairs in her room at the same hotel. According to reports, Houston died Saturday of unknown causes at age 48.
A somber Keys arrived at the hotel's rear entrance in a chauffeured limo with her husband, Swizz Beatz. Davis greeted Keys with a hug as she exited the limo. Inside the party, Keys posed for pictures with Sean "Diddy" Combs and his longtime girlfriend, Cassie. Surprisingly, Diddy also bypassed the red carpet.
Self-centered celebrities such as Ciara, Diana Ross, Kelly Rowland, Kim Kardashian, and others, cheesed for the cameras on the red carpet at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hilton, while the body of pop icon Whitney Houston's was in rigor mortis in her room at the same hotel.
These celebs wait all year to strut their stuff at Davis' annual party-of=the-year, so they are not going to let something like the death of a legend stop them from being seen on the red carpet. As you look at the pics after the break, keep in mind that these celebrities were fully aware that Houston's body had not been removed from her room yet.
Jay Z put his businessman face on to attend the Grand reopening of his 40/40 sports bar in NYC last night. Celebs such as billionaire Warren Buffet (pictured with Jigga), Ashanti, rapper Wale, producer Rico Love and others attended. The bar was closed last year for renovations because business was so slow. Jay Z hopes the bar's new facelift will inject life into the place.
The dapper Jay Z turned heads when he pulled up to the club with a mystery LSLH woman. Beyonce's surrogate, perhaps?
Miami Heat basketball star Dwyane Wade celebrated his 30th birthday at the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach last night. The point guard who is hobbled by a nagging ankle injury was joined by his longtime girlfriend (and part-time babysitter) Gabrielle Union; his teammates LeBron James and Chris Bosh; singer Kelly Rowland, rappers T.I., Rick Ross, Flo Rida, and about 400 family and friends.

If you're a regular reader, you know I'm big on body language. Could Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade's bodies be more in tune with each other? See how their bodies mirror each other, and their eyes are closed. Their body language reveals a couple who are in complete bliss without a care in the world at that very moment.
