Hublot Atlanta Boutique opened its doors in upscale Phipps Plaza last month. On Friday the store held an event for Atlanta's tastemakers to celebrate Ice Week. Hublot, which is owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy Group), already has 5 boutiques around the United States. 3 more boutiques are planned as part of its expansion into the U.S. over the next 3 years.
The event was hosted by rap mogul Ludacris' manager and business partner Chaka Zulu (CEO, DTP Records and Ebony Son Entertainment). The event was also sponsored by Conjure Cognac. Ludacris stopped by to show his support.
Ludacris, above left, is pictured with Rick Delacroix, President of Hublot America, and Chaka Zulu. Luda is wearing his $85K iced out Hublot King Power watch, a gift from Hublot. Hublot is the preferred timepiece of rap mogul Jay Z and NBA star Dwyane Wade, among others.
Tameka "Tiny" Harris was honored last night at the ASCAP Awards held in Atlanta. She arrived in a grey Bentley (a gift from her husband Tip Harris), wearing a fitted black and white dress and Gucci mink trimmed sandals, according to celebrity blogger Tami Reed (Talkingwithtami). Tiny flew into town from Los Angeles just to attend the event. She was in LA with her group the OMG Girlz who are recording their album.
Congrats to Tiny!
Alexis Welch is one lucky woman. She stood by her man, NBA star A'mare Stoudemire, when he was out sowing his wild oats, and he rewarded her loyalty by asking her to be his wife. Most women would have bounced at the first sign of cheating (especially with a public figure like Ciara). But Welch (age unknown) realized that a man is going to be a man -- and regardless of what he does in the streets, her role is to be a good mother to his children.
Stiletto Jill reports that Alexis attended Fall 2013 bridal shows with Stoudemire's credit card looking for that perfect wedding gown to wear when she walks down the aisle with A'mare at their wedding next year. Some of the designers included Ines Di Santo, Reem AcraKenneth Pool, Christos and Rivini. Good for her!

Times have certainly changed! First America elects a half black man as president of the United States, and now a black woman has been chosen Homecoming Queen at the University of Mississippi!
"I am still in shock, but I am definitely very excited,” said Courtney Pearson, a 21 yr. old senior English secondary education major. Ole Miss has a long history of racism on its storied campus, where students still proudly affix confederate flag stickers to their bumpers.
2 years ago riots erupted on the Ole Miss campus "over student led actions to remove traditions associated with the Confederacy and segregation (source)."
On Sunday millions of people worldwide were captivated by the sight of a tiny, one-man capsule being carried aloft by a gigantic 55-story helium-filled balloon. Inside the cramped capsule, Austrian paratrooper Felix Baumgartner prepared to become the first man to break the speed of sound while free falling 24 miles to earth.
The capsule ascended into space at the rate of 1,000 feet per minute. It took roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes for the capsule to ascend 128,100 feet above earth, breaking the record for the highest non-aircraft altitude.
24 miles above the earth, Baumgartner, 43, stepped out onto the capsule's small ledge and bunny hopped into space. He shattered the speed barrier even as he went into an uncontrolled spin, eventually reaching a top speed of 833 mph (Mach 1.24) about 30 seconds into his jump.

Wednesday's TV ratings for TLC's blockbuster hit reality series, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo trumped Bill Clinton's speech at the Democratic National Convention. The numbers aren't in yet for President Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention Thursday night -- which went head-to-head with the MTV Video Music Awards. So we don't know if MTV defeated the pesident in the ratings race.
'Honey Boo Boo' pulled in 2.4 million viewers on Wednesday, and despite a 20% drop in ratings from the previous week, the precocious 6-year-old still tied with Clinton in the TV ratings.
As I told you months ago, singers Rihanna and Chris Brown got back together, hoping to reignite the passion they once felt before he beat and punched her to a bloody pulp in 2009. But even though they remain friends, things didn't work out for them romantically (Chris isn't feeling her anymore), and they both went their separate ways. Last night, the former lovers kissed and hugged during the MTV VMA 2012 telecast, but the warm greeting can only be seen in blurry photos uploaded to Instagram.
It looked like a Hair Wars competition on the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Thursday. Rihanna's hair stylist took out her long black extensions and clipped her ends into a cute Halle Berry pixie style that softened Rihanna's features.
President Barack Obama already has the black vote on lock, so he has successfully steered clear of tackling issues that would improve our lot, such as the staggering unemployment among blacks. Even though most blacks and Latinos oppose gay rights, Obama has campaigned heavily to Hispanics and gays -- while cementing his position that he is not a crusader for black people.
Last night, the official 'black president' -- Bill Clinton gave a stirring, impactful speech for President Obama's re-election at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC. Although Clinton didn't explicitly say it, his message was clear: hang on in there folks; Obama has your back if he wins a second term.
Former Football Wives star Chanita Foster held a charity concert for her Beyond The Game Foundation at Park Tavern in Atlanta on Wednesday night. Proceeds from the charity will benefit a school built by the foundation in Africa, and to feed children in Africa. Chanita is very civic minded and generous with her wealth and her time. Kudos to her. Celebs in the house included R&B Divas stars KeKe Wyatt, Sylenna Johnson and Nicci Gilbert, RL from the group Next, former reality star Q, Real Houswives of Atlanta star Derek J, music producer Jazze Phae, and more.
Over the weekend, R&B Diva Monica Brown tweeted pics from her husband Shannon Brown's Wood-Star Music Festival in Chicago. The 3-day Wood-Star music festival was founded by Shannon and includes entertainment, empowerment and culture with proceeds benefitting the Shannon Brown Foundation. Celebs taking part in the music festival included Fantasia Barrino, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, Ed Lover (Yo! MTV Raps) and more!
The stars came out in droves to attend last night's Los Angeles premiere of Sparkle at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Sparkle was the late Whitney Houston's final swan song. Houston's only child, Bobbi Kristina Brown, attended the premiere with her adopted brother, Nick Gordon. Sparkle premieres nationwide in theaters today, August 17!
Olympic darling Gabrielle Douglas isn't bothered by ignorant comments about her hair. She knows that people who talk negatively about others are hurting inside.
In an interview Sunday, the 16-year-old said she read some of the comments on the Internet after winning her 2nd gold medal in the London Olympics.
"I don't know where this is coming from. What's wrong with my hair?" said Douglas, the first U.S. gymnast to win gold in team and all-around competition. "I'm like, 'I just made history and people are focused on my hair?'"
Douglas says she uses gel, clips and a ponytail holder to keep her hair in place while she competes in the Olympic gymnast competition. She's worn her hairstyle -- a combination of synthetic sew-ins mixed with her real hair -- for years.
Congrats to Baylor women's basketball star Brittney Griner who took home the Best Female Athlete of the Year trophy during the 2012 ESPY Awards at Nokia Theatre in LA on Wednesday. The 6-8 center was also named the AP Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, among her many accolades.
Griner led Baylor to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship in April. The Texas native wears a men's 17 or 18 shoe size. And in case you're wondering, the answer is yes.

These pictures of Monica Brown and Taraji P. Henson at the 2012 BET Awards circulated widely on Twitter.com last night, as users assumed singer Monica Brown was shading the actress when she walked behind her on the red carpet.
But ask yourself, why on earth would Monica throw shade at Taraji? That is not even Monica's style.
Monica tweeted this earlier today on Twitter.com:
Washed up rapper Soulja Boy dissolved into tears as he listened to Cissy Houston sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" the 2012 Bet Awards in LA on Sunday. His tear-jerking moment recalled Chris Brown's Visine stunt at the 2010 BET Awards.
Many assumed that Brown was overcome with grief during his Michael Tribute at the 2010 BET Awards, but he was actually mourning the loss of his career -- just as Soulja Boy is doing now.
Soulja Boy's tearful reaction to Cissy Houston's tribute to her daughter Whitney wasn't quite as dramatic as Brown's bawling though.
Black Twitter erupted just as the first tear rolled down Soulja Boy's cheek. The jokes (and the "Thank You Based God" memes) flew fast and furiously last night. Within minutes Soulja Boy was trending worldwide on the social network.
Soulja Boy has struggled to overcome the double losses of his brother and his career this year. The years have not been kind to him since his first hit song, "Crank Dat," made him an overnight sensation.
Beyonce was not having it when word reached her ears that BET's staff planned to seat her right next to Silicone Queen Kim Kardasian at the 2012 BET Awards on Sunday.
Actually, the staff in charge of the seating arrangements for the awards was the production company hired by BET. But Beyonce is reportedly tired of Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, using her for cheap publicity.
My well-connected source on the west coast got herself a coveted volunteer position with said production company -- and she couldn't wait to text me with the TEA!
Among my source's various duties was escorting celebrities to their seats. She told me she wasn't Bey's escort yesterday, but she was close enough to the action to overhear Beyonce telling husband Jay Z (through clenched teeth) "I am NOT sitting next to her."
Heavily tagged photos of the Miami Heat celebrating the team's 2nd NBA championship title at LIV nightclub Thursday night into Friday morning.
In the post-game interviews Chris Bosh told reporters that he was a lucky man to marry his beautiful wife Adrienne Williams.
After the Miami Heat's amazing 121-106 win over the OKC Thunder in the NBA Finals Thursday night, star forward Chris Bosh set Twitter on fire with his seemingly orgasmic champagne shower celebration in the team's locker room. If you have children you might want to shield your monitor as you watch this video.
