For the 3rd consecutive week, Empire has dropped in the ratings. Wednesday night's episode drew just 12 million viewers. That's down 1 million viewers from last week's episode and down 4 million viewers from Empire's season 2 premiere.

Season 2 of Fox TV's hit soap opera musical Empire took a big hit on Wednesday. Ratings tumbled from episode 1's 16 million viewers to just over 13 million viewers in the second week. That's the lowest viewing audience since episode 2 of season 1.

Twitter users mocked Empire for jacking scenes from HBO's The Wire and indie film Hustle & Flow, starring Terrence Howard, who plays Lucius Lyon on Empire.

Most reviewers are bought and paid for by Fox TV, so their reviews are unreliable. The more honest reviews can be found on social media where most viewers panned the show's script as overdone and over-the-top.

Season 2 opened with a flurry of pointless cameos by pop culture notables such as Vogue's Andre Leon Talley; activist and radio host Al Sharpton; CNN anchor Don Lemon;.singer Kelly Rowland; and RHOA alum Miss Lawrence doing his best Sylvester impersonation.
