La La Anthony, 32, received a big hug from proud hubby, Carmelo Anthony, as they celebrated the opening day of La La's new off-Broadway play, "Love, Loss & What I Wore" at the West Side Theatre in New York City yesterday. Someone forgot to tell 'Melo that it is customary to give the leading lady flowers on opening night of a play. Oh well, he'll learn.
Later, the couple went to the after party at B. Smith with family and friends, including La La's lesbun cousin, Dice, who is in Atlanta to host a lesbun party at GLOW nightclub on Buford Hwy tonight. Photo: Dario Alequin/INFphoto.com
La La's bestie, Kim Kardashian, 30, was dressed in head-to-toe houndstooth for her appearance on MSNBC's 'Today Show' this morning. La La tweeted this pic of Kim to her 1 million followers.

October 2, 2011 will mark the first annual “A King of Oneself” brunch presented by men’s lifestyle fashion brand AKOO Clothing and Grand Hustle Entertainment. Taking place during BET Hip Hop Awards weekend, the exclusive affair will be hosted by none other than AKOO’s Co-founder, Grammy award winning artist, actor, and producer, Clifford “T.I.” Harris and New York Knicks all-star Amar’e Stoudemire.
The invite-only event will be held at a private location in Atlanta. Invites have already gone out to 150 celebrity guests, close personal friends and family.
“We’re gathering our family and friends during BET’s Hip Hop Awards weekend to show love and appreciation to T.I. as he celebrates his 31st birthday, his new book Power & Beauty, and the growth of the AKOO Brand,” states Jason Geter, Co-founder of AKOO Clothing and CEO of Grand Hustle Records.
During the brunch soiree, guests will preview a sneak peek screening of the “Salute the King” fan-based documentary, a collection of videos submitted by T.I. fans from all over the world.
As previously mentioned, each invited guest will receive a bottle of Ciroc, courtesy of Sean "Diddy" Combs. All guests will be measured for a special AKOO clothing gift, and select guests will receive Beats by Dre headphones in their gift packs.
The “A King of Oneself” brunch is sponsored by Ciroc, Beats by Dre and MusicBusinessPolitics.
Keep it here to find out how you can win an exclusive invite for two to attend the private brunch!
Remember we told you last week about rapper T.I.'s private Welcome Home party to be held after he's released from a halfway house? Well, TMZ has the details on the intimate affair for exactly 150 guests on October 2nd. According to the gossip website, T.I.'s good friend Sean "Diddy" Combs is personally shipping in 150 bottles of Ciroc, one for each person in attendance. The whole bash will cost around $100K, with $20K just on food and additional $8K on dessert.
The big surprise of the night -- reps from AKOO Clothing, T.I.'s clothing line, will measure the VIP guests for custom-made clothing gifts.
Of course, T.I. isn't leaving out the blogs; one lucky Sandrarose.com reader will receive an invite to attend the Exclusive affair at an undisclosed location. T.I.'s artist Mitchelle'l, whose hawt single "Only A Few" has everyone buzzing, is set to perform for the lucky 150 guests. We usually don't attend industry parties, but we might make an exception for this one!
OWN Network founder Oprah Winfrey has "mixed feelings" about one of her hosts appearing on ABC's 'Dancing With The Stars' this season, which begins next week.
According to the Huffington Post, Oprah is uncomfortable with Your OWN Show host Carson Kressley appearing on the dance show, because she is uncomfortable with reality TV shows in general.
"A few years ago, when she was doing her own show, she didn't care for it at all," a source told HuffPo.
"Manipulating people who are so desperate to be famous and making then look foolish on TV is just not something she is comfortable doing."
But isn't that what Oprah did on her own show? Didn't she manipulate people who were desperate to be famous? Isn't she desperate to remain relevant after ending the 25-year run of her wildly successful show on the advice of a dying kid?
Kressley, who gained fame as host of TV's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," will compete next week against notables such as NBA star Ron Artest, former talk show host Ricki Lake and transgender Chaz Bono.
The rumors are confirmed: 50-year-old comedian/actor Eddie Murphy will host the 84th Annual Academy Awards this Fall. Good for him.
"I am enormously honored to join the great list of past Academy Award hosts from Hope and Carson to Crystal, Martin and Goldberg, among others," Murphy said in a press release.
"Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner, who is producing the ceremony, recently directed Murphy in the upcoming movie "Tower Heist," and Murphy was reportedly Ratner's top choice to host the show.
"Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever," Ratner said in a press release. "With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances -- especially on stage -- I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show."
ABC caused a storm of controversy when the network announced its controversial decision to add a transgender male (Chaz Bono) to the cast of "Dancing With The Stars". But now the deluge of emails and phone calls pouring into ABC's offices have turned downright scary, according to an unidentified source.
“Of course, they knew there would be some anti-Bono calls and emails,” said a longtime “DWTS” insider. “But this has been more vicious and in larger volume than was anticipated. … Some of the comments are downright scary,” the source told the Sun Times.
As if it wasn't difficult enough for ABC to navigate the waters of discord and animosity, a psychologist has come forward to urge parents not to allow their kids to watch the show.
Calling Bono's appearance on the show "toxic," Dr. Keith Ablow, a FOX contributing blogger, wrote "I advise parents to not allow their children to watch the episodes in which Chaz appears."
Dr. Ablow, a licensed psychiatrist, compared Bono's gender dysmorphia to that of mentally ill patients who suffer from limb dysmorphic disorder -- the amputation of healthy limbs.
People who suffer from limb dysmorphic disorder believe their lives will improve dramatically if they can only amputate one or more of their hands or limbs. The limb is usually removed at the end of a butcher's knife when the patient can't find a sympathetic doctor to perform the operation.
Ludacris stopped by the 11Alive studio to fill 11Alive viewers in on this year's LudaDay Weekend from Sept. 1-5th. Ludacris says this LudaDay weekend will be the biggest of the past 10 years.
The most anticipated event is probably the celebrity basketball game featuring NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, in addition to other local celebs. Luda's team will take on Justin Beiber and his crew. Luda jokingly calls Bieber his "mentor" who he goes to for advice on women. Even so, Luda says he's definitely not going to let Bieber win the game.
Tickets are $10 and the proceeds will benefit the Ludacris Foundation. Visit DTPrecords.com for a full schedule of this weekend's events.
If you're planning on attending the LudaDay weekend events, you will have to contend with near gridlock traffic in downtown Atlanta. Not only is this Gay Pride weekend, but there will be other conventions and professional sporting events competing for spectators this weekend as well.
Cabaret singer Beyonce's four night stand at New York's Roseland Ballroom sold out in 22 seconds -- thanks in large part to ticket scalpers.
Bey opened her 4 night stand last night wearing a shimmering gold dress designed by her mother Tina Knowles, and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.
Fans, rather, Stans lined up for hours before the show even though they already had tickets in hand. The delirious Stans packed the 2,500 capacity ballroom to hear Bey belt out lesser known tracks from her '4' album.
The concerts were described by one industry insider as "brilliant album listening parties organized for the fans," which she hopes will spark slumping sales of '4'.
But Beyonce's opening night didn't jump off without some controversy.
A few of our loyal readers are complaining bitterly about the cost of tickets to Kanye West and Jay Z's 'The Throne' Tour. The tour kicks off at Philips Arena in Atlanta on October 29, and some fans say they can't afford the outrageous prices that Live Nation is asking for tickets.
Loyal reader Maxie King writes:
The tickets for the Washington DC show are $265/Each in this economy? Talk about tending the throne, these two tired rappers are gouging the pubic, making Jay-Z and Kanye richer, but it won't be me that's for sure for two assholes. $265 is half of my car note, but they don't care. Who do they think they are? Jay-Z's rap is old and so is he, and Kanye is a Beyonce groupie. F-that Sandra. But the show will probably sell-out nonetheless
Rather than rely on reader quotes of tickets, we did our own checking. We learned that the cheapest ticket to 'The Throne' Tour at Philips is only $83. That's not bad when you consider the magnitude of the talent onstage. I am speaking specifically of Kanye West, of course.
The name on everyone's lips this past weekend was Alex Gidewon, the uber successful club promoter with a string of lucrative nightclubs in Atlanta. Tonight, Gidewon, who co-owns AG Entertainment with his brothers, will celebrate his 40th birthday at the newest jewel in his crown of nightclubs: Club Reign.
Most holders of invitations to Alex's private party at Reign believe they will gain admission to the Ultra private bash at Dubai Lounge next door to Reign, but unfortunately, they will not.
Please be clear: there are NO invitations to Alex Gidewon's Ultra private bash at the exquisitely appointed Dubai Lounge tonight. If you are an A-lister, a baller or a shot caller in Atlanta, your name speaks for itself. Your aura of sophistication is all you will need to get inside Dubai. If the doorman has to ask who you are, you will be pointed down the sidewalk to Club Reign.
But don't be embarrassed: you won't be alone -- you just won't be inside Dubai Lounge sipping champagne with the rest of the ballers.
The stunning Moroccan styled Dubai Lounge was designed by Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs, Inc.
Happy birthday, Alex! Have fun tonight!
We corrected this post to reflect the fact that Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs, Inc. designed both nightclubs.
As we told you last week, the official release date of the Watch The Throne collaboration LP by Kanye West and Jay Z might be pushed back. Today it was announced the set will be released on August 8 on iTunes, instead of August 2nd. It now makes sense that the super secret listening party for 'The Throne' will be held on August 1st at an undisclosed location.
Of course, yours truly was invited to attend the private listening session by our friends at Def Jam. We were assured that both Hip Hop Kings, Kanye West and Jay Z, would be in attendance (we really want to meet Kanye!).
When we asked (twice) if any other bloggers would be attending the private listening session, we received no response. So it is assumed that other bloggers are invited, and they just don't want to reveal who. (Not that it matters.)
In addition to the release date, a tour was also announced to support the much-anticipated project, which Def Jam execs are already calling a classic. The 21-city 'Throne Tour' kicks off in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 2011, with a stop in Atlanta on October 9 at the Philips Arena.
If Rihanna didn't have bad luck, she would have no luck at all.
A Manhattan judge yesterday greenlighted famed photog David LaChapelle's multi-million dollar copyright suit against the troubled songstress.
According to the NY Post's Page Six:
In a ruling released yesterday, Manhattan federal Judge Shira Scheindlin said the surrealist shutterbug "successfully alleges" that the songstress, her record label and video director may have copied his provocative images for Rihanna's "S&M" video.
Scheindlin cited the "hot-pink and white striped walls," "women wearing frizzy red wigs" and "black tape wrapped around a man." Source
And yesterday, MTV delivered yet another blow to the 23-year-old pop star when the network released its nominations for the 2011 MTV VMA Awards. Rihanna received only two nominations for guest appearances on Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” and Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie.”
MTV ignored her hits “Only Girl In The World,” “What’s My Name,” “S&M,” “California King Bed,” and “Man Down.”
They say Rihanna's unrealistic demands and Diva-like behavior is what led MTV to deliver the ultimate snub!
We believe it. We told you that her record label held a top secret meeting earlier this year to discuss their temperamental superstar.
R&B singer Ciara was spotted feeding the meter outside Marie Nails in Los Angeles yesterday. She had her pups, Tyson and Georgia, with her. The 25-year-old star is coming off a 4 date mini-tour of South Africa with producer/rapper Timbaland, singer Chris Brown and rapper Lil Kim. Ciara will soon embark on a 10-city tour with singer Taio Cruz. The tour kicks off in Miami on July 16, and will include stops in Dallas, New York City, and Los Angeles -- but not Atlanta. Boo!
Friends Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade were pictured at the 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Premiere in Times Square in NYC yesterday. After walking the red carpet, the two went their separate ways. It's good to see ex-lovers remain friends, isn't it? Photo: Getty Images
R&B singer Rihanna gripped her butt cheek during her performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles yesterday. My spies tell me that the real reason singer Cee-Lo dropped out of the LOUD tour is because he thinks he's a bigger star than Rihanna is, and he resented opening for her. Speaking of Rihanna, she is tapped to host the Grand Opening of the new Vision, now called Reign. The occasion is also owner Alex Gidewon's 40th birthday party. Photos: Splash News Online
