Holly and Rodney Peete to renew their wedding vows

Please note that the following is a positive post…

Actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, will renew their wedding vows after 17 years of marriage atop the Empire State Building on Monday, reports Page Six.

Celebrity event-and-wedding planner Colin Cowie, who designed the couple’s 1995 LA nuptials, will also coordinate the private affair.

When Holly hits the red carpets in Hollywood, she is often photographed with only 3 of her children; Ryan, 12, Robinson, 7, and Roman, 5.

Holly and Peete are also parents to an autistic child, RJ, 13, who was diagnosed when he was 3. RJ is Ryan’s fraternal twin.

The Robinsons said RJ’s diagnosis hit them both very hard.

Holly said: “We went through this emotional connection, and we just cried in each other’s arms. We didn’t know what the hell this autism thing was. We were both in denial for a few weeks.” Rodney added: “I stayed angry and blamed the doctor and was still in denial—while Holly basically rolled up her sleeves and did what needed to be done.”

In Case You Missed It: Real Housewives of Atlanta, Ep 6

Local “celebrity attorney” Phaedra Parks represented one of her clients in court on a drug charge in last night’s episode of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’. Afterwards, in the parking lot, the enterprising young man peeled a couple of Gs off of a thick wad of cash and handed the money to Phaedra who quickly tucked the cash into her purse. I tried to reach my own attorney last night to ask her if accepting drug money on camera was legal. Maybe she didn’t answer her phone because she was laughing so hard.

In Case You Missed It: T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle, Ep 2

Last night VH1 premiered the much anticipated reality series, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle. The network aired 2 episodes back-to-back as T.I. held court at the Cinebistro in Brookhaven hosting a private screening for family and friends. In the 2nd episode, T.I. displayed his paternal love for his 6 children. A particularly touching scene occurred when T.I. was forced to choose between performing a sound check for BET’s Hip Hop Awards or attending his son Domani’s youth football game.

The responsible father in T.I. chose to attend Domani’s football game after speaking with his son via phone and hearing the disappointment in the boy’s voice. “Over the years I’ve grown to love my career. However, I love my family more,” said T.I.

Wendy Responds to Criticism That She Was Too Harsh On the Kang

Talk show Diva Wendy Williams came under fire from fans of “The Kang” T.I. after he appeared on her show Thursday with his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris to promote their new reality TV show, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.

During the interview, Wendy grilled T.I. on the touchy subjects of his past arrest on drug charges and his incarceration for violating his probation. A tense T.I. repeatedly interrupted Wendy’s line of questioning, telling her “Life has moved on.” (Watch the video here)

After the show, Wendy uploaded a video to her blog and facebook page giving her unique perspective on the tense verbal exchange between herself and T.I.

“What part of ‘you are an ex-con’ doesn’t he understand?,” she said. “I get middle America, he’s trying to change his image. He shoulda thought about that before they arrested them…for real. I like T.I. I like his wife, Tiny. But you can’t have it both ways, sir. You go on ‘The View’ and other shows and give it up but what is it? I’m too familiar with you so that you don’t want to give it up here?”

But the nervous tension flying between T.I. and Wendy on the set wasn’t the only topic of conservation on social networks and the blogs on Thursday.

Sisters in particular bristled when a self-confident T.I. gently told his wife to “pause” as she was about to answer one of Wendy’s probing questions.

T.I. hushed his wife because the question involved rapper 50 Cent — a man — and T.I. thought that he — a man — was better qualified to handle it. No real man would sit quietly while his wife spoke on another man’s drama.

It was one of those television moments that lent itself to ridicule and scorn from females on Twitter.com who long ago lost respect for Black men.

Bishop Eddie Long’s Wife Says “Never Mind”

24 hours after filing for divorce from embattled Atlanta preacher Bishop Eddie Long, his long-suffering wife, Vanessa Long, has asked her attorneys to withdraw her divorce petition.

Mrs. Long blames “years of attacks in the media” for her abrupt decision to file for divorce yesterday (Dec. 1).

But in a new statement released this afternoon, Mrs. Long said,

“Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long,” she said in an emailed statement bearing the New Birth logo. “I love my husband. I believe in him and admire his strength and courage.”

Yesterday, Mrs. Long appeared to give up on her marriage to the troubled leader of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church:

“After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011.”

The divorce filing followed a tumultuous period for the Bishop, who, earlier this year, settled a sexual misconduct suit brought by 4 former Longfellow Youth Academy students, and a fifth man who was not included in the suit.
