Loyal reader Bird informed me that troubled singer Chris Brown released a new song this morning, titled "I Can't Win", in which he laments about being with a girl who's in love with a bottle. I'm not one to put much stock in song lyrics, but in this case, I wonder who he's talking about?
Why you angry all the time?
Why you don't wanna ride for me?
Girl we used to make love
When you called I would follow
Now the only thing you love is a bottle
Listen to the song and read the lyrics after the break.
Former V-103 jock Elle Duncan was arrested early Sunday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police say that Duncan, an 11 Alive traffic reporter, threw back one too many drinks after leaving a Hawks playoff game. Apparently, Duncan didn't learn anything from former anchor woman Amanda Davis, who is awaiting trial on a November 2012 DUI charge. Davis, 56, was forced to retire after 26 years at Fox 5.
As expected, disgraced local news anchor Amanda Davis announced her retirement from Fox 5 after more than 26 years at the station.
According to Rodney Ho of the AJC, Davis, 56, made the announcement in a special statement that aired on Fox 5 during the 10 p.m. newscast on Thursday.
Davis had not been on the air since November 11 when she was involved in a wrong-way car crash.
According to Ho, the station aired tributes to Davis from retired Channel 2 Action News anchor Monica Pearson, former Atlanta mayor and U.N. ambassador Andy Young and V-103 morning host Ryan Cameron.
Despite a petition calling for her termination, Fox 5 plans to put news anchor Amanda Davis back on the air at 10 p.m. Thursday to give a "special statement" about her most recent DUI arrest.
According to Rodney Ho of the AJC, Davis, 56, has not been on the air since November 11 when she was involved in a wrong-way crash.
Davis has declined all interview requests since November, according to Ho. There is speculation that she may be announcing her retirement from Fox 5.
The former beat reporter has been with WAGA-TV since 1986 when it was a CBS affiliate.
Davis was driving northbound in the southbound lane of Piedmont Avenue around 12:20 a.m. November 11, when she crashed head on into a southbound vehicle.
The other driver was taken to Grady hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained front end damage. Davis was charged with DUI, failure to maintain her lane and reckless driving. It was Davis' 2nd DUI arrest.
