Paul Walker

The production team behind the Fast & Furious movie franchise released a moving tribute to actor Paul Walker, 40, who was incinerated along with a friend in a single car accident in California last weekend.

Paul Walker and Roger Rodas

Several Sandrarose.com readers took issue with my write up on the death of actor Paul Walker, 40, who was incinerated along with a friend in a single car crash in California on Saturday. Officials are investigating to determine if Roger Rodas, 38, was drag racing when his $450K Porsche Carrera GT hit a pole and a tree and burst into flames.

But this email from former Sandrarose.com reader Tiffany Coleman was especially vile and vindictive. She writes:

Tell me, how much of your blog money do you donate to anyone or anything? I am sure you make a nice set of change too but not because you are such a stellar writer (because you really are not) but because of your Rose Garden...I am sure that THEY know were it not for their commentary I and countless others surely would have stopped coming to your site long ago.

Tiffany is blissfully ignorant of my generosity to my readers. I have given away countless high end bags, shoes and accessories. I have paid rent and car notes for my readers. Not to mention the thousands of dollars worth of gift cards I paid for out of my own pocket, and the Christmas shopping sprees for kids.

But this is not about my benevolence and generosity. Let us take a moment to remember the victims in Sunday's deadly NY commuter train accident. Those innocent victims were not drag racing in a half million dollar sports car. They were just trying to get home to their families. Rest in peace.

Paul Walker and Roger Rodas

The entertainment world was shaken to its core by the news of the tragic death of 'Fast & Furious' franchise star Paul Walker over the weekend.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says excessive speed was a factor in the death of Walker, 40, and his financial adviser, Roger Rodas, 38.

Rodas was at the wheel of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when it hit a light pole and wrapped itself around a tree near the site of a fundraiser that Walker attended on Saturday in Valencia, CA.

Emergency responders found the mens' bodies nearly incinerated inside the mangled wreckage of the half million dollar sports car.

Walker's death was a freakish footnote to the underground racing movie franchise that made him a household name.

4 Tons of Quarters

A retired Illinois foot surgeon paid back a court ordered $500,000 in insurance money the unconventional way -- in quarters that weighed 4 tons.

Roger Herrin was awarded $1.6 million in personal insurance compensation when his teenage son, Michael Herrin, was killed in a Jeep crash in 2001. Michael, 15, was the only passenger killed in the crash. Three survivors who were also in the Jeep sued Roger Herrin who collected the bulk of an additional $800,000 insurance policy, since his son was the only one killed.

After a decades long court battle, Herrin was ordered to pay back $500,000 of the $800,000 to the survivors who complained that he received too large a cut of the insurance proceeds.

"I've had 10 years to think about this a little bit, and I'm very, very bitter at this ruling," he said. "It's wrong, and everybody knows it's wrong."

When news broke that Trayvon Martin's killer George Zimmerman rescued a family in an overturned car earlier this week, the media sprang into action to locate and interview the family. But if Zimmerman's publicist hoped the family would praise the accused murderer on the evening news, they were wrong.

Despite pleas from the police and press for the family to explain how Zimmerman saved them, they say they are terrified to praise Zimmerman in public.

Zimmerman's attorney Mark O’Mara confirmed that the family canceled a planned news conference on Tuesday saying “They don’t want to be associated with George.”

It looks like the publicity stunt backfired.

A Los Angeles judge has revoked Chris Brown's probation in his 2009 domestic abuse conviction for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

The judge revoked Brown's probation today after reviewing a request from the LA prosecutor's office, which alleges that Brown violated the terms of his probation by committing an alleged hit-and-run in May.

Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin set a August 16 court date to determine if any punishment is warranted. Brown faces up to 4 years in prison.

Before the hearing, Brown took to his Twitter page today to plead his case in the court of public opinion: "I did everything I was suppose to do during the so called hit n run, I provided the correct info. There were no injuries or damages. C'mon!!"

Chris Brown and Olga Gure-Kovalenko

The Russian tourist who accused troubled singer Chris Brown of a hit-and-run says Brown looked scary and his tattoo's intimidated her.

Olga Gure-Kovalenko told gossip website TMZ.com that her "blood pressure shot through the roof," the day her car bumper was tapped by Brown's Range Rover in May.

She said she didn't recognize the singer who is a household name in the states. "I was so afraid because he looked scary for me because it was a big car, he had a lot of tattoos, and I didn't know he was a celebrity. For me he looked kind of scary," she said.

Chris Brown

Embattled singer Chris Brown took to his Twitter account today to respond to the LA city attorney charging him with hit-and-run.

The 24-year-old singer's name has been a mainstay in the headlines over the last few years, but it looks it he may not be in the wrong this time.

If you recall, Brown and his longtime girlfriend Karrueche Tran were involved in a fender bender back in May. Brown's SUV tapped the bumper of another woman's vehicle. He got out, exchanged information with the woman, took a few photos of the minimal damage, then left the scene.

Now Brown is accusing gossip website TMZ of "yellow journalism" for bullying him and reporting the new charges.

"My lawyers will be contacting you. I will not stand for this bullying and yellow journalism!," Brown wrote.

Rickie Lamb pedestrian struck by car

A Clayton County mom is "furious" that police used a new feature on Facebook to contact her about her son's death.

Anna Lamb-Creasey searched for her son Rickie Lamb for weeks after he went missing on Jan. 25. Lamb-Creasy told WSB Channel 2's Tom Jones she called hospitals and checked jails for her missing son.

She even posted messages on the 30-year-old's Facebook page.

So when she found strange messages in a Facebook message folder that she didn't know existed called "other", she ignored them.

She said the messages were sent from a user named "Misty Hancock. And I'm like who is this Misty Hancock," Lamb-Creasey said. She was also thrown off by the profile picture of rapper T.I.

Lamb-Creasey told Channel 2's Tom Jones she had no idea if someone who is not a "friend" sends her a message it goes to a box called "other" in the message folder.

"I'm like, OK. I'm thinking it's just fake," she said.

Then, on Valentine's day, Lamb-Creasy's daughter finally called the number on the Misty Hancock page and an officer informed her that Rickie died when he was struck by a car as he crossed Tara Boulevard and Old Dixie road Jan. 24. The driver wasn't ticketed.

Lamb-Creasy was furious that police didn't use more conventional means to notify her until 20 days after her son's death.

Lamb-Creasey says they should have used a police department Facebook profile.

"People need to know that it's a police department trying to contact them. If you just have a picture of a rapper T.I. no one's gonna take that serious," said Melissa Wilson, a friend of Lamb-Creasy.

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Clayton County police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution they made every effort to contact the family in a more conventional way. They said they checked several addresses and never could reach anyone. They're still looking into why that Facebook account was used.

Lamb's funeral is set for Saturday.

If you'd like to help with funeral expenses, Lamb-Creasey's job has set up an account at any Chase Bank. Just refer to account number 183503217.
