In last night's season 3 premiere of Catfish, Nev Schulman and his camera-toting sidekick Max Joseph meet "nice guy" Craig who got reeled in by a shrewd sociopath who assumed a sexy online persona named Zoe. By now you know how the story ends.

Nev and Max quickly unravel Zoe's online identity to reveal a sad, pathetic, chubby, homely woman named Cassandra who destroys the lives of social media users because she was bullied as a kid.

MTV premiered a sneak preview of season 2 of their hit TV series "Catfish: the TV show" yesterday.

The show features gullible lovestruck people who "fall in Love" with fake online personalities. Season 2 features a woman who has never met her fiancé in person. And a couple who have dated online for 8 years without ever meeting face-to-face.

Manti Te'o

Former Notre Dame star Manti Te'o isn't having a good week at the NFL Combines. The NFL scouting Combine, which ended yesterday in Florida, is where the top college player's display their best skills for the pros to determine how high they are chosen in next week's NFL draft.

If you recall, Te'o was in the news for mourning a dead girlfriend who existed only on his computer screen.

A male friend later stepped forward to say he was responsible for the dead girlfriend's fake online profile, which he says he created because he was in love with Te'o. The bizarre incident led to speculation that Te'o himself was gay.

Manti Teo Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Katie Couric

Deadspin.com just posted audio of voice mails left by alleged hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo on the cell phone of Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.

In the audio, Tuiasosopo (picture inset) is pretending to be Manti Te'o's girlfriend, Lennay Kekua -- 2 days before she supposedly "died" of leukemia.

The NY Daily News reported this morning that Tuiasosopo's attorney admitted his client "disguised his voice" as a woman in order to fool Te'o for 3 years.

Sidney Ackerman fake profile

"Catfish' or 'Catfished' are terms used to describe people who become emotionally attached to fake social media profiles. Oftentimes the person who runs the social media account is not who they claim to be.

People who get emotionally attached to fake online profile's -- or to online profiles in general -- usually have some form of emotional or personality defect that allows them to become victims so easily.

Luckily, that was not the case with four unnamed NFL players who were almost 'Catfished' by @RedRidnH00d, a woman (or man) on Twitter.com, who used pictures of an Internet adult entertainer, C.J. Miles, to seduce the athletes into establishing a rapport with her.
