50 Cent

Volatile rapper 50 Cent is due in court today to answer to a domestic abuse charge. Fiddy was arrested in June and charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend and trashing her Toluca Lake condo. Fortunately for loose change, he has one less thing to worry about: he is not the father of his ex-girlfriend's son.

Today's headline on Matt Drudge's news aggregate website Drudgereport.com screams "JEANTEL WARNED ZIMMERMAN COULD BE GAY RAPIST" -- a reference to trial witness Rachel Jeantel who was the last person Trayvon Martin spoke to before he was killed by George Zimmerman. Jeantel's first interview aired on CNN Monday night.

Drudge describes how Jeantel "opened up and let loose on the murder case that gripped that nation."

And because he's gay, Drudge immediately pounced on the notion that Jeantel called Zimmerman a "gay rapist."

Of course, that's not what she said, but that's the way Drudge heard it.

Solange Knowles Protest

Singer/DJ Solange Knowles was among the demonstrators taking to the streets around the country to protest the acquittal of the man charged with killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Solange participated in a rally for Trayvon at Brooklyn's Borough Hall, in Brooklyn, NY, on Sunday -- one day after a Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman on all charges. Solo's more famous sister, Beyonce, asked for a moment of silence during her concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. "I'd like to have a moment of silence for Trayvon," said Beyonce on Saturday, about 30 minutes after the verdict was announced. President Barack Obama called for calm after the verdict. And the Dept. of Justice says it will review the case to see if Zimmerman violated Trayvon's civil rights.

  • George Zimmerman not guilty

After deliberating for 2 days, an all-white, all female Florida jury found George Zimmerman not guilty on all counts in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, 29, breathed a sigh of relief as the verdict was read in a Florida courtroom on Saturday.

The self-appointed neighborhood watchman claimed self-defense when he shot the unarmed teen to death in February 2012 in a gated Sanford, Florida subdivision. Martin was returning to his father's friend's home after a trip to a convenience store to buy a pack of Skittles for his stepbrother and a beverage for himself.

A White House official tells CNN President Obama will not issue a statement on the Zimmerman not guilty verdict.

I received an email from a friend who is in the legal field. He covers court cases for another media entity. It finally dawned on him yesterday that the whole Kenya Moore eviction debacle is just another stunt to boost TV ratings and to draw attention to "Real Housewives of Atlanta" tv series. This shouldn't surprise anyone. I've been saying this all along about reality TV shows using the court system to boost ratings. Read the email after the break.

    Trayvon Martin

The woman who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin when he was confronted and shot by George Zimmerman inside a gated community took the witness stand today.

Rachel Jeantel, 19, told jurors she was not Trayvon's girlfriend. She recounted the phone conversation she had with Trayvon before he was shot to death by the self-appointed neighborhood watchman inside the Retreat at Twin Lakes subdivision in February.

Speaking almost in a whisper, Jeantel said Trayvon used the N-word several times as she described what she heard Martin say to a male. She said Trayvon told her the man was following him as he returned to his father's fiancee's home from a convenience store. He described the man as "creepy" and a "cracker."

Texas Jury Acquits Man Who Killed Escort

A Texas jury acquitted a john who shot and killed his escort because she refused to have sex with him.

The jury found that Ezekiel Gilbert was justified in killing Lenora Ivie Frago, 21, on Christmas Eve 2012, because he paid her $150 for her escort services and she refused to return the money after denying his request for sex.

Gilbert's lawyer cited a broad Texas law that allows for "deadly force" to “retrieve stolen property at night."

Gilbert contracted Frago's services though an ad on Craigslist.

    John Welden and Remee Lee

Tampa authorities arrested a doctor's son and charged him with deceiving his pregnant girlfriend into believing the abortion pill she was taking was an antibiotic.

According to a federal arrest affidavit, John Andrew Welden tricked his girlfriend into taking an abortion pill, which resulted in the death of their unborn child.

On Tuesday, Welden, 28, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of the six-week-old fetus, and product tampering. He was denied bail on Wednesday.

Though the 6-week-old fetus is not considered medically viable, the age of the fetus is moot under federal law.

"If someone kills an unborn child while committing a federal crime, it's considered murder," Tampa lawyer Todd Foster told ABC News.
