Beyonce’s little sister, Solange Knowles, stopped by Hot 97 to promote her new compilation album on Angie Martinez’s show on Wednesday.
Solange recalled pulling the “Knowles card” on a bully in the 7th grade around the time Beyonce’s song “No, No, No” was a hit.
“I used the [Knowles] card because there was this one kid, he was so obnoxious,” said Solange. “He was constantly kinda bullying, doing the most… called my mom the B-word. This kid was just out of control. I wrote petitions to get this kid [thrown] out of school. His name was Brandon. I said, ‘my sister is coming here and you’re gonna be really surprised who she is.’ [Beyonce and Kelly Rowland] pulled up, and I will never forget the face he made. They were coming to beat him up, but it was Destiny’s Child coming to beat him up,” she said.
Janet Jackson previewed her upcoming album “Discipline” at her official listening party at New World Stages, Stage 1 in New York yesterday. Invited guests were treated to a lavish buffet, open bar and stunning visuals including Janet herself who appeared near the end in a dominatrix style outfit complete with a corset tight enough to choke a horse.
Janet’s most notable quotable of the night was “I love love and I love sex.”
Well, surprise, surprise: I actually got an invite to something other than the opening of an envelope.
LA Reid will host an exclusive listening party for Janet Jackson‘s new CD “Discipline” at a private location in NY next Wednesday (don’t worry LA, I’m not coming). The invite says Cocktails & Hors D’ouvres will be served to invited guests. Yummy.
If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to receive an invite, check out VH1’s exclusive preview of the album here.
Critics who normally root for Janet Jackson were unanimous in their view that Janet’s new single ‘”feedback” wasn’t all that hot. So why then was the single being hailed by everyone else in the Universe as a surefire hit? Surely everyone was listening to the same song.
According to the Daily Mirror, Janet’s latest single hasn’t even made the top 100 download chart in the UK – after three weeks on sale. Now her label, Island Records might pull the plug on bringing the CD version to the UK.
“The poor [sales] figures are no surprise as Janet isn’t big news right now,” a source told the Daily Mirror‘s 3am gossip column. This, after Def Jam’s Chairman L.A. Reid held a much-hyped private listening party over there for Janet’s new CD “Discipline”. Where’s the gratitude?
Haters are everywhere it seems. Someone at Amazon.com doesn’t think much of Janet Jackson‘s upcoming CD “Discipline”. The non-fan thinks the album is destined to flop. So they went ahead and labeled the album a flop on Amazon’s website.
A sharp eyed Janet fan spotted the title and alerted Janet’s label. But the title is still there. Check it out at this link.
Perez Hilton has a full review of Janet’s album which was previewed at a Def Jam listening party in my birth place of London, England on Wednesday.
