Lil Wayne apology

PepsiCo has dropped troubled rapper Lil Wayne just 2 days after his publicist wrote an "apology" letter to the family of 14-year-old civil rights icon Emmett Till.

PepsiCo, which distributes Mountain Dew, said in a statement late Friday that Wayne's offensive comparison of Till to a violent sexual act on Future's “Karate Chop” remix did "not reflect the values of our brand."

In the "apology" letter, the publicist wrote, "Moving forward, I will not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in my music, especially in an inappropriate manner.” and concluded with, "…my ultimate intention is to uplift rather than degrade our community."

But Till's family dismissed the letter, saying it was a step short of an apology.

According to my west coast connect -- who is very well connected -- troubled rapper Lil Wayne suffered a seizure around 11 p.m. Tuesday, west coast time. My source says Wayne was rushed to Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, the same hospital where he spent a week in ICU in March.

According to gossip website TMZ.com, troubled rapper Lil Wayne was released from Cedars-Sinai hospital yesterday, where he was treated for recurrent seizures related to a reported drug overdose.

Confusion reigned when Wayne was re-admitted to Cedars-Sinai on Friday after a bodyguard found him unconscious on the floor of his hotel room.

Sources on the west coast told several websites, including this one, that Wayne was on his death bed. But the rumors turned out to be false. A tweet allegedly sent from Wayne's phone only added to the confusion -- and confirmed suspicions that Wayne was in no condition to send the tweet himself.
