Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III says the "window" of opportunity is open for gay players to come out of the closet. RG3 made the statements in a cover interview published in the September 2013 issue of GQ magazine.
"I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they're looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window," said Griffin, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery. "My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. If some Christians want to look at being gay as a sin, then thinking about other women, committing adultery—or any of those other sins that are in the Bible—those are sins, too. And God looks at all of us the same way."
It must be a groupie's worst nightmare to get involved with a football star who happens to like what she likes.

While the sports world buzzed about gay NFL players, a NBA player was planning to take his closet door off its hinges.
Jason Collins, center for the Boston Celtics, wrote a coming out letter exclusively for the May 6, 2013, issue of Sports Illustrated magazine.
I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport," he writes. "But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, "I'm different." If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."
Collins is obviously implying that there were other gay NBA players in the closet with him.
Not one NFL team showed interest in former Notre Dame star Manti Te'o in the 1st round of Thursday's 2013 NFL draft.
NFL scouts weary of Te'o's distracting presence in the NFL locker room declined to draft the former Heisman candidate who had a terrible showing in the NFL Combines in February.
If you recall, Te’o made headlines for mourning a dead girlfriend who didn't exist.
A male friend later stepped forward to say he pretended to be Te'o's dead girlfriend for 3 years because he was in love with him. This led to rampant speculation that Te'o himself was gay.
West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith also wasn't chosen in the 1st round -- probably for the same reason that Te'o was passed over.
Brendon Ayanbadejo, who was cut by the Baltimore Ravens, still praises the organization for "laying the groundwork" for gay players to come out of the closet.
The Ravens terminated the linebacker's contract Thursday. But the married father-of-2 praised the Ravens for supporting his self-appointed role as the NFL spokesman for gay marriage.
Former Notre Dame star Manti Te'o isn't having a good week at the NFL Combines. The NFL scouting Combine, which ended yesterday in Florida, is where the top college player's display their best skills for the pros to determine how high they are chosen in next week's NFL draft.
If you recall, Te'o was in the news for mourning a dead girlfriend who existed only on his computer screen.
A male friend later stepped forward to say he was responsible for the dead girlfriend's fake online profile, which he says he created because he was in love with Te'o. The bizarre incident led to speculation that Te'o himself was gay.
Former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris was arrested and charged with assaulting his ex-boyfriend at a San Mateo restaurant. According to the lawsuit obtained by The San Mateo Daily Journal, the two men argued over soy sauce and underwear during the August 21 incident.
Police say Harris and his former lover, Dimitri Geier, met at Su Hong restaurant in Menlo Park to exchange personal belongings. Harris agreed to drive Geier to San Francisco International Airport, but instead became upset when he poured soy sauce on a plate of rice, according to a copy of the lawsuit which was obtained by The San Mateo Daily Journal. An argument ensued "for approximately seven minutes" and Harris said he would not take Geier to the airport.
