Joel Osteen

Pastor Joel Osteen finally opened the doors of his Houston megachurch after catching heat for closing the $50 million church in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

Osteen, 54, tweeted a prayer to everyone affected by the storm on Saturday, but he was criticized for shutting the doors of his megachurch for 3 days.

"Victoria & I are praying for everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey. Please join us as we pray for the safety of our Texas friends & family," Osteen tweeted on Saturday.

The prosperity preacher remained silent as others called for him to open the doors of his massive church for hurricane relief efforts.

Jamal Bryant

Pastor Jamal Bryant raised eyebrows when he inserted a popular hip hop catchphrase into his fiery sermon at the Empowerment Temple in Baltimore, MD, on Sunday.

Bryant recited the title of a popular Chris Brown song when he told his flock "These hoes ain't loyal!" Surprisingly his congregation cheered and stomped their feet as if in agreement with the pastor's description of young women who may have lost their way in life.

Watch the video after the break.

Update: An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a minister at Creflo Dollar's megachurch in College Park early Wednesday. The shooting occurred inside the old chapel on the campus of World Changers church around 10:30 a.m.

According to witnesses, Greg McDowell, a 39-year-old volunteer prayer leader at the church was shot inside the old chapel -- not in the famed World Changer's chapel, where Bible study was being held. McDowell was transported to South Fulton hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Wsbtv.com reports that 52-year-old Floyd Palmer was taken into custody an hour ago at Macy's in the Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead, north of Atlanta.

U.S. Marshals joined with the county SWAT team in the massive manhunt for the shooter.

A loyal reader alerted me to this story last week but I held off on posting it because I needed more to go on. Now that one of the principals in this story has been busted for soliciting sex from a minor, I have decided to run this story.

According to my loyal reader, former rapper-turned preacher Mason "Ma$e" Betha was recently spotted in his hometown of Jacksonville where he is allegedly being courted to head a megachurch called Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. The church boasts 7,000 members and until recently, was run by a man named Darrell Gilyard.

For the past 15 years, Pastor Gilyard served his congregation well - until a 16-year-old told her momma about the inappropriate text messages he had been sending her. Mr. Gilyard was subsequently arrested on Jan. 14 and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct involving a minor. This was not the first such charge leveled at Gilyard who stepped down as pastor once the allegations came to light.

According to my loyal reader, Pastor Gilyard may be coming to Atlanta to take the helm of pastor Betha's S.A.N.E. Ministries if Ma$e gets his old job. The irony in all of this is no one wins in either congregation. You have Pastor Betha who is rumored to curry the sexual favors of transvestite hookers over his lovely wife Twyla Betha. And now his church may be losing him and gaining a pedophile.

Is God paying attention to any of this?
