Lawyers for convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius hope a South African parole review board will release him to home confinement today.

Pistorius, 28, was found not guilty of murder and convicted of the lesser charge of culpable homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013.

Pistorius claimed he thought an intruder was in his Pretoria mansion when he fired five shots through a bathroom door.

Before she was murdered, model Reeva Steenkamp sent text messages to Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius telling him she was "scared" of him.

Pistorius, 27, is currently on trial in a South African court for premeditated murder in the shooting death of Steenkamp.

“I’m scared of you sometimes and how you snap at me and of how you will react to me. You make me happy ninety percent of the time and I think we are amazing together … but I am not some other bitch ... trying to kill your vibe,” Steenkamp wrote in a Jan. 27, 2013, WhatsApp message.

Day 3 of Oscar Pistorius' murder trial ended just moments ago in Pretoria, South Africa. Professional boxer Kevin Lerena, a friend of Pistorius, testified that a gun Pistorius was handling went off as they dined in a restaurant in January 2013. Lerena testified the bullet grazed his toe.

British tabloid The Sun revealed the teenage lover of Oscar Pistorius, who is on trial for murdering his previous girlfriend.

Leah Sky Malan, 19, was spotted leaving a hair salon in her hometown of Potchefstroom, the NY Post reports.

Pistorius and Malan met in Mozambique last December while she was vacationing with her family, the NY Post explained. She’s studying to become a paramedic.

"He has no confidence in his tone of voice and he is almost like someone that is walking around in circles and doesn't know where he is going," Mike Azzie told the BBC in an upcoming documentary.

"I would say that, just speaking to him, he is a broken man. I would go as far as to say that he could be on the verge of suicide. It really worries me," said Azzie in the upcoming BBC documentary, Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened?

Oscar Pistorius freed by court

Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius is a free man after being freed on bail by Magistrate Desmond Nair following a four day bail hearing. Pistorius was arrested on charges of murdering his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, 29, who he mistook for a burglar.

Nair said Pistorius was not a flight risk and that his prosthetic legs would make a "commotion" if he tried to get through airport security.

"I come to the conclusion that the accused has made a case to be released on bail," said Nair, who added "the state only has circumstantial evidence but that 'does not prevent it being [premeditated murder].
