The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade almost canceled its traditional colorful big balloons due to the strong wind gusts, but the New York Police Department announced the giant balloons would be allowed to fly lower than normal just moments before the parade was set to start.

A Little Rock, Arkansas woman says her Martin Luther King holiday was marred by a drunken champion boxer who threatened to kill her entire family.

The NY Post reports middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor threatened to shoot Toya Smith's husband and their 5-, 3-, and 1-year-old children at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade on Monday.

Smith, 40, said she was watching the MLK parade with her family when Taylor stepped out of the crowd, showed her his championship belt and offered to take a picture with her son.

New Orleans parade victim

New Orleans police are on the hunt for 3 gunmen who opened fire on a crowd of people at a Mother's Day parade in New Orleans on Sunday.

19 people were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to a report on Reuters News website.

Among the wounded were ten men, seven women, and a girl and a boy both age 10. The victims were shot as they walked in a "2nd line" of about 300 people following behind the original parade participants.
