Covid-19 survivor Idris Elba wants people to spend a week in "quarantine" every year to remember those lost to the coronavirus.

The "Thor" actor and his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba have recovered after contracting the potentially deadly disease in New Mexico last month.

To mark the devastating loss of life and mass disruption across the globe, Idris believes people should self-isolate for a week each year to remember the dead.

"I think that the world should take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time," he tells the Associated Press. "Remember each other. I really do. I think it's… other species use it. It's called hibernation. But it does remind you that the world doesn't tick on your time."

Idris has been very vocal and outspoken since contracting the virus. He is very grateful to be alive, and he believes coronavirus is a sign of the Seven Prophecies.

"Definitely scary and unsettling and nervous. And I think that's been like a real collected world experience," said the actor who missed his six-year-old son Winston's birthday because of the lockdown. "You know, everyone's sort of feeling the way we have been feeling, but it has definitely been sort of just a complete upheaval."

Idris Elba's wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba told Oprah Winfrey she tested positive for the virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Sabrina, 30, said she tested positive days after her husband announced he was positive for the novel coronavirus.

She revealed her diagnosis in a joint webcam interview with Idris on Oprah Winfrey's Apple TV+ series Oprah Talks on Sunday.

"I found out this morning I tested positive, Sabrina told Oprah. "I'm not surprised. As soon as I heard Idris was possibly exposed, I mean I was on my way anyway, and I wanted to be with him. I think that's an instinct as a wife. You just wanna go and take care."

Sabrina said she didn't take any precautions to avoid contracting the virus.

"We didn't change the way we interact," she said. "I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away and Im sure that people are making this decision and they're tough decisions to make, but I made the decision to want to be with him and you know, still touch him."

Idris, 47, and Sabrina are currently in self-isolation in New Mexico, where Idris was filming his latest movie, The Harder They Fall.

Sabrina was heavily criticized for breathing all over her husband in a video when he announced his positive test last week.

Neither Idris or Sabrina have reported any symptoms of the virus. Idris said none of the people he came into contact with - including his son and mother - have contracted the virus from him.

The CDC offers the following tips to avoid spreading the flu or Covid-19 virus:

1. Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
2. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
3. Avoid close contact with sick people
4. Sneeze and cough into a tissue or your elbow
5. Stay home if you are sick
5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
6. When in doubt consult with a healthcare professional

Idris Elba responded to critics who said his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, should not have appeared with him in his video announcing he tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

In a video on Twitter.com, Elba asked his fans not to panic over his positive test. He said he was self-isolating until he tested negative.

But his followers couldn't help noticing Sabrina breathing all over him in the video - as if she too was infected.

Elba wasn't here for the disrespect to his wife.

"Sabrina wanted to be by my side," he insisted in a follow-up video tweet. "As much as we talked about her not coming to where I am, she did and wanted to. And I would do the same for her."

Elba, who has no symptoms, said his wife took the test on Tuesday, and they are awaiting the results, which usually takes 24-48 hours.

In a second video, Elba chastised TikTok users and others who believe the virus doesn't affect Black people due to Black folks having less ACE2 enzyme receptors than other races and ethnicities.

"Please stop sending the, um, conspiracy theory nonsense about Black people not being able to get Coronavirus -- Covid-19," he said. "It's dumb, it's silly, it's very dangerous."

He left out the part that most healthy people - himself included - experience no symptoms or mild symptoms. No other so-called "deadly virus" behaves this way. A deadly virus is usually deadly to most people who contract it -- not the other way around.

So what's really going on?

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences declined to nominate Taylor's song "Beautiful Ghosts", which she co-wrote with Oscar-winner Andrew Lloyd Webber. Adding insult to injury, Beyonce's lackluster song "Spirit" from the Lion King soundtrack was nominated for an Oscar, as was Pharrell Williams' track "Never Too Late".
