The NY Knicks officially signed former Antonio Spurs guard Shannon Brown to one of two open roster sports today, Sports Illustrated reports.
There is speculation that Brown, 28, was brought in to fill the spot soon-to-be vacated by departing point guard Raymond Felton, whose legal troubles are mounting. Felton plans to be in the starting lineup for the Knicks in tonight’s game against the defending NBA champs Miami Heat.
NBA MVP LeBron James may have fractured his nose when he was blocked by Serge Ibaka during a drive to the basket late in the 4th quarter of the Miami Heat vs Oklahmoa City Thunder in Oklahoma last night. The Heat easily defeated the Thunder 103-81.
James, 29, was actually hit twice by Ibaka as he drove to the basket for a dunk to cap off his 33 points in 33 minutes night. The NBA refs did not call either foul. This is typical of the biased NBA referees who routinely look the other way when LeBron is attacked in the paint by opposing teams.
R&B Diva Monica Brown put on her game face while cheering on the San Antonio Spurs who defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 104-100 in a close game at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, Feb. 8.
San Antonio signed Mo’s husband, Shannon Brown, to a 10-day contract to fill in for guards Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard who are both on the injured list. Brown entered the game with 9.5 seconds left in the 4th quarter to replace Kemba Walker, who fouled out. Monica wrote in the photo caption: “#MyFaceWhenTheOtherTeamScores #RollsEyes then I won’t look for 3 seconds.”
MMA legend Anderson Silva will be back in the ring soon, so says the surgeon who placed pins in his fractured leg last week.
The Brazilian mixed martial artist and former UFC Middleweight Champion shattered the tibia and fibula bones in his left leg during the main event of a UFC 168 match against Chris Weidman last week.
During the match on Saturday, Silva threw a low kick which was checked by Weidman. His leg snapped in half as it impacted Weidman’s lower leg.
Watch a GIF of the moment of impact after the break (no pun intended). Don’t click if shattered bones makes your stomach turn.
No NFL player wants to be in Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones’ shoes today. It’s bad enough that he got cracked over the head with an expensive bottle of champagne. But when the attacker wielding the bottle is a petite stripper named Sweet Pea, the locker room becomes a very hostile environment to be in.
According to gossip blog TMZ.com, the incident took place on board a DC party bus where other players were celebrating Brian McKinnie’s 34th birthday. The players were entertained by a motley crew of aging, out-of-shape strippers, including Sweet Pea.
TMZ says Sweet Pea hit Jones over the head with a gigantic Ace of Spades bottle. She claims TMZ is lying.
Los Angeles Laker star Kobe Bryant is out for the season with a severely sprained ankle that he suffered in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday.
Calling the injury his worst in 13 seasons, Bryant blamed Hawks player Dahntay Jones for “playing dirty.”
According to The Washington Post, Bryant was injured when he landed awkwardly on Jones’s foot as he attempted a potentially game-winning layup in the final seconds of the Lakers’ 96-92 loss to the Hawks at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
X-rays of Bryant’s ankle were negative but the Lakers say their bread and butter playmaker is “out indefinitely.”
You may not recognize this balding man with the beer belly but he was once considered New York’s most eligible bachelor. The former baseball star was seen limping around a South Beach hotel pool wearing a cast after surgery on his fractured left ankle. He has obviously packed on the pounds while on medical leave from his team. Can you guess who he is?
