It doesn't take an NFL fan to know the Super Bowl officials had it in for the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady won his 7th Super Bowl ring and fifth Super Bowl MVP trophy.

It wasn't supposed to be that easy for the 43-year-old who was facing media darling Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs 25-year-old quarterback.

The game was marred by a flurry of foul calls that halted any momentum the Chiefs could muster. It was the first time in Mahomes' NFL career that he failed to score a single touchdown in a game.

Kansas City was flagged 11 times for a combined 120 yards, while the Buccaneers received just four flags for 39 yards.

An interception by Kansas City's Tyrann Mathieu that would have put Mahomes within striking distance of the end zone was called back on a holding penalty with the Chiefs down 7-3 in the second quarter.

When Tampa settled for a field goal after failing to convert a fourth down, they were gifted with a first down after Kansas City's Mecole Hardman lined up offside, resulting in a penalty flag being thrown.

Brady took advantage of the opportunity by hitting Rob Gronkowski for a 17-yard touchdown.

Mahomes' mother, Randi Mahomes, was livid after the game. She put the blame for the Chiefs' stunning loss squarely on the Super Bowl officials.

"If you have the ref on your team is that really winning!!!," she tweeted to Brady's wife, Gisele Bündchen.

Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones also questioned the officiating.

"I mean, penalties cost the game either way," he said. "Only the referees can call the penalties. So the penalties affect the game 1,000 percent. What can I say? We had a lot of penalties called on us today."

Jones said he was "surprised" at the number of calls that went against his team.

"This is the Super Bowl. Usually you let the guys play, especially in the biggest game of the year. Penalties can change the game," he said.

Brady was not the favorite to win the Super Bowl because he refused to denounce his friend, former President Donald Trump.

Social media users were outraged that Brady refused to wear a mask on the bench or during post-game celebrations.

Tom Brady sits dejected during Super Bowl LII

Sunday's Super Bowl is the lowest rated since Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. Football fans tuned out in droves rather than watch the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Vince Lombardi trophy in the team's history.

Tom Brady Jack Brady

Tom Brady is catching flack over an on-screen kiss with his son in his new web series 'Tom vs Time'.

A scene from the web series shows the 40-year-old New England Patriots quarterback lying shirtless on a table while getting a massage.

His 11-year-old son Jack Brady walks into the room and asks his father if he can check his fantasy football standings.

"I was wondering if I could check my fantasy team," Jack asks.

"What do I get?" Brady replies.

Jack leans over and kisses his father on the lips, then walks away. As he leaves, Brady complains about the meaningfulness behind the kiss.

"That was like a peck," Tom Brady says, while the male massage therapist adds, "You know Jack, everything comes with a cost, bud."

Jack returns, leans over and kisses his father again -- this time the kiss is longer.

Twitter users expressed their disgust over the second kiss. Some viewers tweeted that the second kiss was "very disturbing" and "uncomfortably long."

CBS reporter Elise Finch conducted interviews with New Yorkers on the street. Many expressed their discomfort after watching the scene.

"I'm a little bit uncomfortable with that," said one New Yorker.

Emily Hernandez, a mother of two from Harlem, said kisses between a father and son are okay at a certain age, "But not in the mouth and not for that long."

Parrish Watson of Parkchester said the kiss was problematic. "Too long. Too long. Like, romantic long," he said.

Kurt Czaplinski, of Hempstead, disagreed. "I kiss my son on his lips. I have since day one," he said. "I would have no problem with my son kissing me like that."

Lifestyle and parenting expert Lyss Stern said people who object to the kiss between father and son are "parent shaming."

Another parenting expert said the 5-time Super Bowl champion is sending the wrong message to his kids.

"I don't think affection should ever be tied in with a favor," said Carolyn Meyer-Wartels, a licensed clinical social worker.

"You don't do anything with your body because someone else is insisting that you do it in order for you to get what you want," she added.

Tom Brady Vivian Brady

Tom Brady abruptly cut short a radio interview after one of the station's hosts referred to his 5-year-old daughter Vivian Brady as "an annoying little pissant".

The 40-year-old New England Patriots quarterback was seeing red after WEEI's on-air personality Alex Reimer made the statement last week on a different show, according to the Daily Mail UK.
