Today is Monica Brown’s son, Romelo Montez Hill’s 5th birthday. Mo’ is so proud of her ‘lil man! Romelo attends the same school as Tiny and T.I.’s precocious son, Major. I bet they are a handful for the teachers.
Florida rapper Rick Ross is afraid for his life after running afoul of several chapters of the Gangster Disciples street gang. Two factions in particular, the Tennessee and Colorado Gangster Disciples, released videos that may or may not contain threats against the portly rapper’s life.
According to blogger Dennis Byron of Hiphopenquirer.com, Ross is taking all threats seriously. Byron’s sources have confirmed that Ross hired some “specially trained security personnel” that will be protecting his life — and that protection comes at a steep price.
According to Hip Hop Enquirer blog, Ross is paying over 50K a week for this special protection involving former members of the army’s special forces and navy’s seal team.
In this exclusive interview by AllHipHop.com, Debra Antney, the former manager of Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj, discusses her former clients. I recall last year when Debra called me to defend Nicki after I wrote this post.
I have much respect for Debra because she is fiercely protective of her artists and her community. I remember our very first run-in back in my paparazzi days after I uploaded photos to Getty Images of Ludacris and his foundation giving back to the Bankhead community during Christmas 2003.
After months of failed attempts, rapper Young Jeezy was successfully served with a subpoena last week to appear in child support court. According to a well-placed source, the process servers had a difficult time serving Jeezy who always remained one step ahead of them.
In all fairness, Jeezy, real name Jay Jenkins, may not have known he was being served. Friends say the 32-year-old entrepreneur is a good father to his 15-year-old son, Shyheim. He’s also a generous philanthropist who has given freely of his money and time to underprivileged children through his Street Dreamz Foundation. In 2005, Jeezy opened his home up to Hurricane Katrina victims who needed a place to stay.
They say that for years Jeezy’s baby mama was happy to make do with the rumored $2,000 a month he was giving her for their son. But now the teenager is older and his private school tuition eats up most of the checks. Then there are the things that a growing boy needs such as new clothes and pricey high top sneakers.
Jeezy’s last studio album, Recession (2008), has sold nearly 1 million copies to date.
