Video: The Plastic Princess Lip Syncs On SNL

Mariah Carey only had a few days to prepare for her Saturday Night Live appearance after Janet Jackson canceled due to sickness from low record sales (more about that in a minute).

Mariah performed the second single off her E=MC² album, “Migrate” with T-Pain. Did I say “performed”? I meant to say lip synced for most of the performance. T-Pain could have stayed home in Atlanta looking like a Haitian Voodoo priest. Neither one of them impressed me with their lip syncing abilities.

But back to poor Janet. Rumor has it that Janet is “totally devastated” by the low sales of her album “Discipline”. She is said to be so disappointed that she canceled her much ballyhooed appearance on SNL due to the flu.

A source tells me that Janet really was rushed to Cedars Sinai hospital complaining of breathing difficulties. But a confidential source said Janet actually suffered a “panic attack” and has not been seen in public since.

Janet was supposed to be the in-studio guest on her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri‘s popular radio show So So Def Radio last night on V-103. But that too was canceled at the last minute, and Jermaine is reportedly in L.A. consoling Janet.

We here at Sandrarose.com hope Janet gets well soon and doesn’t take her low records sales to heart. If there’s any consolation, “Dreamgirls” is still the lowest-selling #1 album in the 16-year history of Soundscan.

As for Janet she should just go on tour and make her money on the road. There aren’t any hits on this new album that will save it.I’d go see her on stage before I’d buy her album.

IF this is true, this does not sound like someone who is secure in the fact that they have nothing to prove. So for me, this rumor would be hard to believe.

As I commented earlir this week. Janet can lip sing to her own songs and could have still appeared on SNL. Mirah in the first song with the mini mini skirt and in the second song with the mesh see through net shirt needs to sit down. If she took the time to have kids, her kids would say ‘mom sit your ass down please stop embarassing us like that”. Media does hype things up. SNL is not what it use to be and I can’t believe I stayed up to watch it.

I think too much focus is placed on first week sales. Nowadays if the first week sales are not good enough you often don’t get anymore single releases from the album. Janet has several potential hits on this album and if they release 2 or 3 more singles and videos the numbers will be fine over time. I’d hope the label releases at least one of the slow jams from the CD. This is Janet’s hottest CD since Janet.

i thought i was the only one who thought Mariah is one of the most boring performers ever. That waving the right hand is sooooooo annoying. And the lack of rhythm with the dancing is just as bad. She desperately needs a stylist!

When I heard that she had cancelled her (hard to get appearance on SNL) I suspected that part of it had to do with her record sales…or lack thereof.

Her voice is nonexistent nowadays. i just kinda attributed it to the fact that she has changed the style of songs she’s singing. I’ve never been a fan but its clear the long gone are the days of Vision Of Love. Now its all about sex and radio appeal for her. which includes breathy meaningless radio friendly crap. I definitely attribute Mariah’s performance to her short preparation time. She sounded only OK…not great. At all – she could have sounded MUCH better.

I do agree w/ Bird – there is still too much interest in “first week numbers” or “trying to get that #1.” People need to also look at ringtones and other things, as well as touring like Bubbles said. There’s still a lot of money to be made outside of selling a CD in the store.

Look at Soulja Boy – I’d be really curious to know how many ACTUAL records he sold – but WE ALL KNOW he made a killing off “Crank Dat…..” – ringtones, touring, etc.

I like Mariah’s first single and since her last album, I have become a big fan of hers. But I’m not impressed with ther T-Pain song. She should come out with something with more substance – and keep her clothes on while doin it! But was she really lip-synching? Sounded real to me…

And don’t worry Janet, you will still sell a lot of albums, don’t be so caught up with the 1st week sales…we still love you!

those performances were not lipped . if they were lipped those performances would have been perfect and as a huge fan of mariah’s those performances were nowhere near perfect . she struggled singing touch my body , but she did a little better singing migrate .

I am a Mariah fan since the vision of love days. She can sing, but can perform well live. I was very disappointed with Touch My Body. Her voice is too strong to be singing that bs. I still don’t like it.

For Janet, she will do find on the new label. Discipline had to grow on me. Yes, her sales are low compared to other albums, but she will catch up with her tour. However, which is more important #1 albums or singles or multi-platinum albums?
