Blogs took notice when Khloe Kardashian tweeted “weird day” on the same day that her hubby, Dallas Mavericks star Lamar Odom, was noticeably absent from the lineup during the Mavericks vs Lakers game on Feb. 22.

The Mavs publicity machine cranked out a brief excuse for Odom’s absence, calling it “a family matter.”

But Radaronline.com reported that Odom took a leave of absence to rush to his dying father’s bedside. Under the headline “Lamar Odom Cancels Game, Dad ‘Gravely Ill,'” Radar Online quoted a source who said, “It’s a really serious medical condition, which is why Lamar is taking the time off right now.”

But according to TMZ.com Odom’s father is not gravely ill at all. In fact, the former heroine addict told TMZ he had a stomach virus.

Joe Odom was out in L.A. yesterday and explained, “[Wednesday] night [Lamar] stayed with me all night … just kickin’ it and whatnot … but everything is good now I feel a lot better.”

“The team is all pulling for Lamar’s dad and hope that he gets better,” a source told Radar Online. “Their thoughts and prayers are with he and Khloe at this time.”

But according to a very reliable source, Odom actually called out sick so he could shoot scenes for his reality TV show, ‘Khloe & Lamar.

It seems the show’s producers needed Odom to re-shoot a few scenes — and the timeframe, not to mention the budget for the crew, was very tight.

Dallas fans expressed outrage that Odom skipped what was an important game for the Dallas franchise so he could “kick it” with his dad, who wasn’t even on his death bed.

Dallas fans criticized Odom on Twitter.com for shooting his reality show instead of supporting his teammates, who ended up losing to the Lakers.

But the Dallas front office were fully aware of Odom’s contractual obligations to the reality show before they signed him. A contract is a contract.
