The fallout from the Zendaya Coleman fake dreads scandal claims another victim. Comedienne Kathy Griffin, who some say insulted Coleman's fake dreads first, quit as the host of 'Fashion Police' after just 7 episodes.
'Fashion Police' host Giuliana Rancic incurred the wrath of just about everyone when she told Coleman her fake dreads smelled like "patchouli oil" and "weed" on the red carpet at the Oscars.
The show's judge and panelist, Kelly Osbourne, was the first to flee the show after she was initially accused of uttering the "weed" remark.
Griffin, 54, threw Rancic under the bus by claiming she never would have said such a thing.
“I wouldn’t have said the joke in the first place. Some dude wrote it for her,” Griffin lied to the Chicago Sun-Times’ Splash magazine.
The live studio audience claims it was Griffin who made the snarky comment first, not Rancic.
After taking heat from insiders who knew the "joke" originated with her, Griffin abruptly quit the show. Her personal statement implied she wasn't allowed to be her sarcastic self on the show.
"I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show & now it's time to move on," she wrote.
"I wish E! and the E! team only the best and I hope to continue to make you all laugh performing live or on television where I can be smart, irreverent, unrepentant and unafraid in an observational way that is candid, honest and unjustified," she added.
