Lamar Odom's aunt JaNean Mercer has released a statement saying his health is greatly improved.
Ms. Mercer said Odom's speech and neurological deficits are improving and his doctors have placed him on an aggressive therapy program to improve his mobility.
"To our overwhelming delight, Lamar's courageous improvement continues on the incline in Los Angeles," Ms. Mercer said in her statement. "He is beginning to gradually flourish both mentally and physically. His use of speech has increased and he's more cognitively responsive. His medical team has executed an aggressive therapy regimen to aid in his progress."
Ms. Mercer and the former NBA player's 2 children Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr., 13, flew from the east coast to be by his side after he overdosed on cocaine at a Las Vegas brothel on Oct. 13.
They remain by his side at Cedars Sinai Hospital in LA, where he transferred from Sunrise Hospital in Nevada. Odom suffered several strokes during his stay at Sunrise. The strokes left him partially paralyzed and unable to speak.
Ms. Mercer addressed the public's concerns that Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, may be manipulating him and exploiting his condition for television ratings.
"In SINCERELY loving Lamar, we truly love and respect whomever he loves," she said. "We always have and will continue to do so. "Together as a team, we will support and encourage him always."
Odom had previously begged Khloe to stop airing their phone calls on her reality TV show. And just a month ago, Khloe considered filing a restraining order after setting him up to be ambushed by reality TV show cameras.
Hollywood socialites have a strange way of showing their love.
