Director Lee Daniels and his significant other Jahil Fisher attended the 2016 BET Honors in Washington DC. Daniels credited R&B legend Patti LaBelle with helping him kick his drug habit. “I called her up one night at three o’clock in the morning. (I was) babbling, babbling, babbling. I was high as a kite,” Daniels recalled. “She said, ‘Lee, do you know Jesus?’” Daniels addressed Ms. LaBelle personally, saying: “La, that I’m even here with you tonight, when you were responsible for me getting off drugs, I love you.”
