Kandi Burruss‘ restaurant, Blaze — named after her firstborn son — was forced to shut down after failing a second health inspection.
Blaze closed its doors for good on May 20 after failing a second health inspection on May 19, according to Radar Online. The restaurant, which opened to the public in November, received a failing score of 55.
The issues cited in the May 19 report included a cook handling raw seafood without first washing hands, a Chick-fil-A cup in the food supplies area, and pink mold in both ice makers.
The restaurant was also forced to shut down in 2020 after it was cited for health and food safety violations.
Kandi, 45, is no stranger to the health inspector’s office. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s Old Lady Gang eatery just barely passed a second surprise health inspection in 2017 after failing in 2015.
The Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine restaurant, located at 177 Peters Street in Alanta’s warehouse district, received a 78 (Grade C) score from the Fulton County Health Inspector on August 24, 2017.
The restaurant’s menu is based on soul food recipes from Kandi’s mom, Mama Joyce (pictured right), and her two aunts, Nora and Bertha Jones.
The inspector found a laundry list of violations including inadequate hand washing facilities, unsanitary food contact surfaces and improper cooking time and temperatures.
Atlanta restaurants that fail health inspections are given one chance to clean up their act before they are forced to close down permanently.
