A woman who went viral for taking a NY Knicks-themed trash can from the Knicks parade route has lost her good corporate job.
The incident happened last week when the city honored the Knicks with a ticker-tape parade to celebrate the team’s first NBA championship in 53 years. City workers lined the parade route with custom orange-and-blue trash cans.
Angie Báez is seen in cell phone video emptying one of the Knicks-themed trash cans onto the sidewalk before taking the garbage can. Theft of city property valued at under $1,000 is a Class A misdemeanor.
“Dumping trash onto the street and stealing public property for your own personal use are both illegal, antisocial behaviors, and not what New Yorkers do. On top of all that, doing both on camera is incredibly stupid,” the New York City Department of Sanitation told The New York Post in a statement.

Báez was later seen riding a subway train with her souvenir. After the videos went viral, her own colleagues outed her on Facebook.
A spokesperson at JPMorgan Chase told The Post, “This employee is no longer with the company.”
Báez’s LinkedIn page says she was “promoted to Executive Director of Community and Industry Engagement for Card and Connected Commerce at JPMorgan Chase more than a year ago.”
“She previously served as Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at New York-based review website The Infatuation, which Chase acquired as part of its broader push into lifestyle and experiential content.”
Báez is described as a “vibrant mosaic of Dominican heritage, Bronx roots, and a passion for storytelling, creativity, and culture.”
