Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o graces the July 2026 cover of Who What Wear magazine to promote her current film, “The Odyssey.” Lupita plays Helen of Troy, the mythical face that “launched a thousand ships.”
The middle-aged, A-list star is considered one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. But she readily admits she lacked self-confidence and considered herself to be “ugly” due to her skin color.
“Listen. I’m not going to be mad at anyone calling me beautiful,” she tells WWW magazine. “I grew up feeling kind of like an ugly duckling… It took me a lot of conscious work to get rid of my insecurities and to free myself from the discrimination of my skin color.”
She added, “When people compliment me these days, I embrace it.”
Lupita’s beauty comes at a price. She has suffered from painful reproductive issues for most of her adult life. In 2014, she was diagnosed with fibroids, non-cancerous tumors in her uterus. In May, she underwent her second myomectomy to remove over 50 fibroids.
The surgery is still “very fresh,” she said.
At 43, Lupita’s wardrobe reflects her personality: bold, sophisticated, grown and sexy.
