Moët Hennessy sold all of its shares of SirDavis whisky to Beyoncé and walked away from the deal.

In 2024, Beyoncé joined forces with Moët Hennessy, a subsidiary of LVMH, to create SirDavis whisky, a first-of-its-kind joint venture.

Beyoncé uses the British spelling of “Whisky” without the “e”. “Whiskey” is spelled with an “e” in America.

SirDavis whisky is named after Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s son, Sir Carter, and her great-grandfather Davis Hogue, a moonshiner and farmer during the Prohibition era.

At the time, LVMH said the whisky brand was “years in the making,” and Beyoncé said the deal developed over four years.

Apparently, the joint venture was not a profitable one for LVMH. The French conglomerate sold its stake in SirDavis to Beyoncé and walked away from the deal.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 28, Beyoncé said the sale makes the whisky brand “a woman, family and Black-owned company.”

“As a proven force in the world of luxury spirits, SirDavis will continue to re-define the future of American whisky,” she wrote.

The whisky brand retails for $89.99 for one 750ml bottle.
