Ryan Clark sent prayers and blessings to former ESPN hosts who received their walking papers today (July 20).

The on-air personalities who were let go from ESPN include Cam Newton, Charles Davis, Karl Revech, Tom Pellisero, Monica McNutt, Chiney Ogwumike, Stephania Bell, and David Lloyd.

Monica McNutt (L) and Chiney Ogwumike, sister of 9-time WNBA All-Star Nneka Ogwumike, were let go after viewers complained to ESPN about their biased reporting.

“Sending prayers and love to all those laid off today by ESPN,” Clark tweeted on Tuesday. “So many of you have poured your life into that company, & I know how you’re feeling right now. My hope is as this door closes another opens for you all. God bless!”

Clark was fired during a commercial break on Monday’s episode of “NFL Live.” He never returned from commercial break.

Newton was let go on Monday after signing a multi-year deal with ESPN last summer. He was Stephen A. Smith’s debate partner on “First Take.”

The job cuts are part of ESPN’s plan to reduce costs and lure viewers back to the sports network. ESPN lost viewers who don’t want to hear former athletes and influencers give their biased opinions about politics and culture.
