President Donald Trump crushed Sean Combs’ hopes of getting out of prison soon. Trump left Combs off his pardon list on Friday, meaning the rap mogul must serve his full sentence.
Trump posted his clemency decisions on his Truth Social app on Friday, July 3, and Combs’ name wasn’t on the list.
The White House announced on Friday that Trump pardoned 11 men, most of whom had been convicted of crimes related to the Clean Air Act. The president pardoned six people convicted of emissions violations. Trump said the men were sent to prison by former President Joe Biden for “fixing their car.”
The president also pardoned Adam Kidan, a major donor to Republicans, including Trump.
Trump met with Combs’ legal team and inner circle right up until the day he announced his clemency list. The White House confirmed that “President Trump is the ultimate decider on any clemency related actions.”
Combs’ attorneys are still trying to appeal his July 2, 2025 conviction on two counts of transporting male escorts for the purposes of prostitution, aka the Mann Act.
In a March 13 filing, Combs’ defense team called the original 50-month sentence a “perversion of justice” and they pushed for his immediate release.
Combs’ release date was moved up to February 28, 2028 in June. The Bureau of Prisons noted that it does “not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans.”
Combs’ release date has been changed five times since he began serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Combs, 56, currently faces around 70 civil lawsuits, including a lawsuit filed on June 9, by a former child actor who claims Combs abused him.
