A Pennsylvania woman was charged with stalking and breaking into the home of a man she met on a dating app.
Lindsay Harris, of Lower Gwynedd Township in Montgomery County, is charged with stalking, trespassing, breaking and entering, and harassment. Police caught her in the act of breaking into a man’s home on June 28.
The unidentified man called police to report a woman breaking into his home. Officers arrived and spotted Harris crawling through a window.
“It’s nighttime. We get a call for a woman breaking into one of our residents’ homes in Fairless Hills. We responded and sure enough, officers see a 30-year-old female crawling through a window, and they take her into custody and then we find out the whole story,” Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney said.
“It is a felony to go into somebody’s house and break in,” Whitney added.
The man told NBC 10 that he noticed things in his home had been rearranged for “weeks,” after he met Harris on the Match app in January.
He said he’d never given Harris his address, and they only met once in person.
“They had initially contacted each other about six months prior on a dating website. The male decided not to continue the relationship, but I guess the female wanted to continue it and came to his home and not only broke into the home but had a bottle of wine and some water ice ready to enjoy an evening with this guy who was completely shocked to come home and find her standing outside of his house looking at him through the sliding glass door and immediately called 911,” Chief Whitney said.
Harris’ next court date is set for July 21. A felony charge of breaking and entering is punishable by prison time and a hefty fine.
