45 people are confirmed dead and hundreds more are missing after a flash flood swept through a village on the Nepal-Tibet border.
The flash flood happened around 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, August 26, after more than six inches of rain fell in the region.
Video footage shows nature’s destructive power as flood water, rocks and mud tore through a valley, sweeping away people, homes, cars and trees.

At least 45 bodies have been recovered so far from low-lying areas, according to Nepal officials.
Hundreds of tourists are among the missing, including Americans, Nepal police said.

The 500+ missing include more than 100 people from India, at least three Americans and 12 citizens from the United Kingdom.
Many homes have been lost, and bridges and roads suffered significant damage, making it difficult for rescuers to reach victims.
The Nepal Red Cross is on the ground providing first aid, food, water, shelter, blankets, and other supplies.
