Angel Reese broke the WNBA record with her 29th double-double, as the Atlanta Dream beat the Minnesota Lynx 89-81 at the Gateway Center in College Park, Georgia on Sunday, August 30.
Reese scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (3 off her own missed layups) to surpass Alyssa Thomas’ record of 28 double-doubles, set in 2023, according to NBC Sports.
Reese already set records this year for rebounds in a season and a game.
Minnesota’s loss snapped their eight-game road win streak. The Lynx (31-9) have a 2.5 game lead over the Golden State Valkyries. The Dream (26-14) are tied with the Indiana Fever (26-14) for 4th place in the Eastern Conference.

Allisha Gray led the Dream with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordin Canada and Rhyne Howard each contributed 16 points.
WNBA Rookie of the Year frontrunner Olivia Miles led the Lynx with 21 points while Kayla McBride and Napheesa Collier each added 17. Courtney Williams scored 11 for the Lynx.
Reese will join Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark as they represent the U.S. during the WNBA break at the Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany in September.
The last time the two met on the hardwood, Clark, 24, went viral for laughing at Reese who missed a game-winning layup at State Farm Arena on August 16.
Reese, 24, had a chance to lift the Dream over the Fever in the final seconds, but she missed an easy layup. Her teammate Naz Hillmon missed the easy put back.
Both teams are now tied 2-2 in their regular season series.
