An Atlanta area councilman has resigned after he pled guilty to flashing a woman at LaGrange College.
LaGrange City councilman Marquavious Boddie resigned from his position after he exposed himself to a woman in his office at the college.
The incident happened on February 6. The councilman, 35, worked as a Career Services Coordinator at the college.
Boddie was terminated from the school shortly after the woman filed a complaint in March.
Court documents, obtained by CBS News Atlanta, show Boddie pleaded guilty to public indecency and obstruction of an officer, both misdemeanors, on Aug. 12. He was sentenced to 24 months’ probation and a fine.
He was also accused of lying to Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents who questioned him about the incident.
Mayor Jim Arrington released a statement following Boddie’s resignation from the city council:
“Serving as an elected official is a position of public trust, and we have a responsibility to uphold the confidence our citizens place in us. I respect Councilmember Boddie’s decision to resign from the LaGrange City Council. I appreciate his service to the City of LaGrange and to the residents of his district. The City Council will continue to serve the people of LaGrange with integrity, accountability, and respect. We will remain focused on the work ahead and on doing what is best for our community.”
