Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom is facing backlash for saying she will dunk on Angel Reese if she’s drafted No. 1 by the WNBA next year.
Enes made the comment in a post on X.com on August 16.
“Once I go No. 1 pick in the 2027 @WNBA Draft, the first player I’m dunking on is Angel Reese. She’s the Paul George of the #WNBA. Just lean into the podcast already,” she tweeted.

Enes made the statement after Reese, of the Atlanta Dream, missed a wide open layup and blew her chance to beat the Indiana Fever at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Sunday.
Instead, the game went to overtime and the Fever defeated the Dream by a score of 95-91.
Earlier this month, Enes announced she identifies as a woman and she declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft. Former NBA player Royce White also declared for the next WNBA Draft. So far, they are the only ex-NBA players to declare for the WNBA draft – for now.
