Former Love and Hip-Hop: New York supporting cast member Sidney Starr asked a judge for a bond after spending less than 2 weeks at Atlanta’s infamous Fulton County Jail.
According to TMZ, Starr, real name Sidney Favors, filed court documents saying they do not pose a flight risk, nor have a criminal history. The document stated Starr is a longtime resident of Chicago and works in the “television industry.”
The document claimed Starr is “indigent” and can’t afford more than a modest bond.
Starr, 37, was arrested at an Atlanta hotel on August 2, after a boy claimed he was molested and held against his will in Starr’s hotel room.
The arrest report, filed by Hapeville police, says Starr met a young male in the hotel lobby. They exchanged phone numbers, and the two went up to Starr’s hotel room, where inappropriate contact occurred.
The boy resisted and attempted to flee the hotel room, but Starr blocked his escape and promised the boy money if he didn’t tell.
The boy escaped the room and told his mother what happened. Cops met with the boy and his parents in the hotel lobby.
Starr told officers the male said he was 18, but police say his parents told them their son was under 16.
While frisking Starr, officers observed an open condom packet fall out of Starr’s pocket. They found another condom in Starr’s pocket.
In an interview with TMZ, Starr alleges that contact with the juvenile was “consensual”.
Starr is being housed in the special LGBTQ section of the Fulton County Jail for “vulnerable” inmates, such as gay and transgender individuals.
Magistrate Judge John Defoor II declined to set a bond for Starr during a bail hearing on August 3. Instead, the judge deferred the case to Fulton County Superior Court.
The judge also appointed an attorney to represent Starr at a hearing set for August 25.
During that hearing, the court could consider bond or conduct a preliminary hearing if the case has not yet been presented to a grand jury, Eurweb.com reports.
